Proposal: Knies for Tippett

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

1 for 1 swap who declines?

Philly- Tippett

Toronto- Knies

Why from Philly- Torts doesn’t seem to like tipett when looking at his ice time but Knies seem like the stereotypical Torts player.

Why from Toronto- Despite my name I’m a leafs fan and I think Tippett has the higher upside skill wise and still has snarl. His contract is beautiful vs Knies’s RFA uncertainty.

Knies is the stereotypical any coach type of player
Size, Hits, produces, and young

Like literally every team would be calling on him.

Did Knies kick you dog or something?

I am a Hab fan and I am forced to take Knies value over Tippett's as Tippett has always had motivation issues. Knies aligns more closely with a championship calibre player whereas Tippett still has that stink of being a player who will bounce around bad teams as contenders won't want to pay him the money he wants for the role that he will end up playing.

Toronto says no imo, and Philly would say yes in a heart beat.

There are no motivational issues with Tippett. He’s very north south and one dimensional, but he’s not lazy. The flyers would need to add here.

He has always had that tag from even before he was drafted.....maybe lazy isn't the best term but a lack of attention to detail might be better suited for him. That being said, his effort is very inconsistent and he just has not been able to harness his ridiculous speed/shot combination due to not putting in the work to round out his game and perfect the smaller details that will unlock his potential. These are things that Torts absolutely hates. Talented players who won't push themselves to the next level which is a form of laziness as he may look like he is going all out to the average fan but the coach knows that he is just riding his natural talent and not working to be the player that he should be.

Knies is kinda the only one that bring what he bring in TOR top 6, and he also should be more productive than Tippett in the long run, but as a MTL fan sure why not

So basically...the concept of this trade from Toronto's end is..."Knies RFA scary"? Compared to "Tippett 3 more years at $6.2 until UFA good"?

Because i don't really buy that. Sure, Knies will probably command a fairly sizeable RFA contract in this rising cap environment...but i don't see it being the sort of thing that you can't meet at a reasonable number and term on. That RFA leverage does still matter for teams negotiating.

And aside from that hysteria aspect...i don't see much in it for Tippett over Knies. No reason to give up the younger player who has just as much scoring upside, meshes better with pretty much any linemates, and just generally does absolutely everything any team or coach would want from him...and clearly still has some more headroom to grow into.

Knies is a turning into a top young power forward . Those guys don’t get moved. Easy pass. Tippet is a decent player but not what Toronto needs / wants ; especially for a price like this .

No from TO. Nothing against Tippet, I just like Knies and the style of game he brings. I would rather keep the commodity I like and know what I'm getting with.
