Confirmed with Link: Klingberg signs in Edmonton

I guess but managing the cap will be difficult.
They have high paid guys to manage the cap. Figure it out.

TBH I just hope we spend an asset like a first round pick or a prospect like SOR to upgrade the team. The boys deserve it.

I don't just want Klingberg and a lame depth forward that we trade a 3rd and a 6th for.

Put Klingberg and Bouchard both on the powerplay and get RNH away from it.
Why fix what's not broken? The Oilers have had one of the top power play for several years.

The Nurse/Barrie pairing which worked out well could very well become the Nurse/Klingberg pairing with similar results.
This could be interesting.
He sounds like a guy who would need a baby sitter. Not sure a high-event player like Nurse is the right one. Maybe Kulak.

News flash? Oilers PP is ranked 7th in the league. That's pretty darn broken if you ask anyone. Anything less than top three is unacceptable.

That does not say much. What's the difference between the 1st and 7th-ranked team in goals scored? And how does the Oilers record compare to previous years?

They are headed in the right direction. They sputtered out of the gate a bit but they're 2nd since December 1st.

The problem is, they don't get a lot of PPs so it's hard to quickly alter the full season percentage.

Totally fair comment (especially about Nurse) although as I posted earlier Klingbergs defensive issues (unlike Nurse) werent really about his reads and decision making. It was more about his limited mobility.

So I am just saying that if his mobility issues have been resolved then he will have an opportunity to show how well he can actually defend.
If his increased mobility shows he can defend and assuming his offence hasnt degraded much then (in time) he could very well be an impact player for this team.
Here's hoping.

Winnipeg has 16 more PP goals than Edmonton. For the sake of comparison if the Oilers PP was clicking along at the rate Winnipeg’s has been all season we’d have an extra 10 goals.

Although I agree with you it’s not broken. Our PP is back to being the best in the league over the last 2 months. It was just so absolutely ice cold to start the year that it’s killed our overall average a bit. We’d definitely have a few more wins to start the year if we hadn’t had such abysmal special teams to begin the year though I imagine. Would probably be right up with Winnipeg and Washington right now instead of ~6 points back.

They also struggled overall the first 10 games or so. Not quite as bad as last year, but pretty underwhelming.
