Agreed completely, and I don't believe he can be asking for that much considering everything.

Either way, I think the team sees him the same way I do, free player who might help, but they still need to look at options for further improvement (Unless Klingberg blows the doors off)

He would have loved The Ranch

No assets out and a sizable upgrade on stecher imo

It's pretty wild that Edmonton has become a destination. Many teams would have taken him on this contract

Agreed, plus Nurse has shown track record of success with puck movers. This could low key turn out to be shrewd signing.

I am kinda hoping he returns to form and we run into Florida again in the finals. The battles he had with Tkachuk when he was with Dallas were epic.

As for Edmonton becoming a destination; winning will do that. Also, doesn't hurt that winters have been pretty tame lately, a guy can get used to this climate change thing.

He had no leverage and still got a contract we can't fully bury when it turns out he still blows.
When Brown gets sent down, Klingberg's cap hit becomes 824k. How can we not bury him?

So they're still accruing space (or will be, once Brown and Ryan/Philp are sent down), but if/when they need to go into LTIR space, that extra mil is ticked on

Basically they're still on path to have 2 to 3 mil accrued, but they'll only be able to add another (roughly) 4mil on top of that vs. the full 5.15mil of Kane's LTIR space.
Seth Jones 50% accrued over his whole contract.

Book it

Is it really such a big deal that he hasn't played in 14 months? It's not like most dmen are playing from May to October anyway. It just feels like a footnote that is meant to sound like a bigger deal than it really is. I do assume he'd have some rust, but it's nothing like if Landeskog would come back for the Avs, for example.

We aren’t the only team that was interested in him. Not the only top 10 team interested in him either. So maybe the amount of the contract that was bonus was what got us the player. Ultimately who cares?

Just next years cap that will be tighter than ever before if we max out this year at the deadline.

We got a good cushion on them. I can see that crappy team playing us hard and winning. They do that winning thing once in a while lol. Losing to them is of no concern to me anymore, but I would love to bury them even further. Their fanbase deserves it.

Give me boo birds, throwing things ont he ice, etc.
Knowing their Canluck with us and the refs i wouldn't put it past them to fluke out a win.

"Free Stuff!!"

- Stan Bowman(probably lol)

Solid low risk test-drive on a veteran player with extensive NHL second pair experience. Can he play at that level missing more than a year with a significant rare surgery to correct his injury? All likelihood is no. But if he can provide NHL depth 3RD/7th defenseman with his experience, length, and puck moving/processing ability it helps to improve this team's bonafide NHL depth.

Highly doubt this stops the Oilers from targeting a significant defensive upgrade.

Credit to Bowman who has picked over waivers for a former 1st round pedigree Kapinen, a project early prime years d-man Regula, and now a dice roll on a mystery box with a real good runway of NHL experience. This is Go Year. They will be pursuing all avenues big and small to upgrade this prime window team. So why not throw another Klingberg on the fire.
I've ridden him hard, but I'm certain he put in a claim on Fabbro, but got beat out by the jackets being lower on the standings

Yeah, I’d say 20 out of 47 pts is a good chunk. I’m not saying all of his points were.
Sure, but he scores 5 on 5 as well. He will improve the Oilers' ability to generate offense, that's just a plus.
