Kitchener Rangers 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

I know the Rangers aren't doing themselves any favours but it find it strange how the rangers who took roughly 100 less penalty minutes in the regular season than both Flint and Windsor all of a sudden find themselves taking the same amount of penalties as flint and find themselves in so much penalty trouble against the Spits.

That was then, this is now. They have got to stay discipline

Actually the Soo tried to play Windsor with the physical game as well but it did not work out for them .
Outside of maybe Brady Martin, the Soo is and always has been a team lacking physicality. They can cheapshot and run their mouth from behind a linesman but that’s FAR from a physical roster.

Just wondering how much do you think it costs to get this reffing treatment because I'm willing to contribute some for games 4 through 7. Honestly had no idea the refs were purchasable.

Burchell was the ref in game 5 against flint and we had a 2 penalties conspired to 5 for Flint. Only had 1 official powerplay and it was abbreviated on both ends I believe. Not saying that the rangers didn't deserve some of their penalties but Windsor surly has become squeaky clean all of a sudden.

Have an honest question while it's on my mind...

I noticed in Games 1 and 2, Parsons was talking to himself during the national anthem. They weren't the anthem lyrics. Does anyone know what he's saying? It felt like a routine/superstition.

Reffing - not good. How you miss the interference on Pridham I will never understand....

That being said, the Rangers were once again their own enemy. We need to be better all over the place and take this one game at a time.
Keep in mind this was a rebuild year. It's incredible that we broke 100 points. Not sure how we got more points than Windsor other than I hear they were weak on the road. I still maintain that the Greentree line is better than any London has. Maybe the best in the league other than the Lardis line down in Brantford.

Definitely something to get him into the zone. You should watch him in shootouts. He turns his back when his team is shooting to not see what is happening.

Great kid, but still exhibits "goalies are weird" traits.

I said it at the deadline and I stand by it. Because we didn’t sell in a “rebuilding year” (nobody expected us to by the time the deadline rolled around based on our record) any less than deep second round, out in 6 or 7 games, and this season is a fail.

Boy, do we look bad out there. Drop passes to nobody. Passes behind intended receivers or at best into their skates. Passes easily picked off. Skating our way into traffic to lose possession. Has our offensive play been this bad all year? I guess when your goaltender bails you out night in and night out, these things are overlooked. You’d think a team decimated by injury wouldn’t have such an easy time with us.
Parsons deserves better.

On a positive, we really aren’t supposed to be here this year (100 regular season points and getting past round two). We’re pretty young and most of our quality is in our returnees. This isn’t a veteran heavy team and what we’ve accomplished this year is pretty impressive considering.

Just wished for a better ending as a Ranger for Parsons (15 goals against in three) after the season he’s had.

So, how many and who of our draft picks were in attendance last night? Does anyone have rookie camp dates yet? Because, with respect, this thing is over.

Rangers are getting a lesson in how much talent you really need to win a championship in this series. Getting severely beat in all three zones. Rangers seem like a team that can skate. Windsor seems like a team that can fly. Greentree is so dominating and dangerous. Would be nice to see a better effort in the next game. Leave it all on the ice and show the fans there is more to look forward to next season. Windsor finished in last place a season ago. Not sure what they lose in the off season but they look to be ahead of the curve going forward.
Rangers defensive play has all but disappeared in this series IMO.

Last night......Greentree 5 Rangers 3. Didn't see that coming.

Lights out a dominant player. But London's D (and goalie) is built for playoffs. We'll see if the Greentree line can do the same to the Knights as they have to the Rangers.

AND the Rangers had an incredible season....ended up in the Top 10 in Canada. I saw them near the bottom in the OHL and maybe getting some playoff experience. Well........they really found out what playoffs are all about that's for sure. No need to hang their heads. Their time will come!!

Two things can be true:

First, that Windsor has consistently been the better team. Bigger, faster, more poised and intelligent. They deserve to be up 3-0 and are winning in all categories. Second, that the officiating is as bad as you'll see it. Most of Kitchener's penalties were deserved but wow, how do you miss some of the ones against Windsor? These type of officiating performances need to be reviewed and held accountable. No one else gets to be that bad at their jobs without some repercussions. It certainly looked intentional at times.

Having said that, I wish Kitchener drafted as well as some of these teams. The high end skill many of them get well down the draft is staggering. And the size as well. Teams that take smaller kids early who aren't offensively dynamic, get embarrassed by teams that find size and skill consistently after the top round.

Windsor still remembers finishing first and losing 4 straight to the 8th place Rangers.
Enjoy your wins when you get them because you don't always get them.
