with the draft capital trade window open. Does MM go and get a 5th or 6th or not bother.

Currently has PBO 2nd/3rd LDN 4th and then don’t pick till the 7th round.

For the next 2 years there will not be many spots open on this team. I’d be quite happy with the 1st 4 rounds having a pick. Especially this year where the cheater / ncaa / USHL / BCHL picks will be lower than other years. If have to think the elite 16 year olds will want to play OHL but I can’t say 100% as this is the first time this NCAA rule will effect the OHL draft. Should be a more straight forward draft. I also thinks this would favour the weaker teams as players can’t say NCAA and then change their mind because Kit or Lon drafts them

my 2 cents. I dont really see him going out to get more mid picks.
I see him picking BPA with the 1st and the 2nd, then taking flyers on the rest on high end US/Can going other routes.
As Jives said, the next 2 years not alot of spots available unless upgrading. Picks will be used more as currency for trade deadline or upgrade acquisitions in the offseason IMO.

Some names to keep an eye on. Solid chance the first 3 could be gone by the time they pick.

Cannon Thibodeau. 5-11 captain of the Marlboros. Family Lives in the area , went to the NTDP Camp. Originally from South Carolina. *unsure if he made it or not

Landon Jackman 6,3 190 American playing for Detroit little Cesar’s. One of the top Americans in the draft and has interest OHL

Sam Roberts. Played for JRC and Son of Gary Roberts. Good skater-good hands, looked good in the OHL cup final. Plays that pro style of game.

*1/2 would be players that would fall in the draft.

Sementsov. Came over from Russia to play with Halton. Pure offensive player 131 points in 65 games. 5,9

McLaughlin has been highly regarded with this age group but was hurt all year. Appeared in 2 games with Sarnia where he had 2 goals and 1 game in the gojhl where he had 2 points. Would be a risk but seems to be tons of upside.
Defence
Charlie Sullivan

*With it being a forward heavy class wouldn’t shock me if they used one their first 2 picks on a defender.

** sounds like teams will be selecting some 08-07-06s in the draft (Americans)

So does it then make sense to take a high risk - high reward player (in the sense that he may not report) in the 1st round and do that 1st round double-dip in 2026 ? The Ranger's next pick is at the top of the 2nd round, plus this draft is so deep that after the top 5 or so, the next 35-40 are likely quality picks (somebody is welcome to correct me if I have this wrong). So if this is correct, and a few teams go off the board, this team could still get a potentially very good pick in round two and possibly a decent player in round three.

By the way, I'm not suggesting this. Just throwing it out there.

What do I know.

Me personally dont see us taking a player that wont come to get the comp pick next year. I would have to think whoever we take this year in the 1st will be traded by the deadline for an upgrade. Same with next years 1st rder. Using the player(s) picked in the 1st more as currency in a later trade. Thats what most contenders do...but who knows.

Historically the flyers start coming around the 3rd or later pending on who it is and why they arent coming but with this being the first draft since the NCAA/CHL rule change its all going to be different I feel.

I like the sound of Landon Jackman. Plays a heavy game from what I gathered. Nice size for someone coming into the league.

Thibodeau has made the NTDP… wouldn’t touch Jackman with a ten foot pole

Traded this years 3rd to LDN for a 3rd in 2026 and 5th in 2027
Not a big fan but it makes some sense looking forward. That 3rd we moved is pick 64? The third coming back from London should be a little earlier.

But why I’m not a big fan?

There’s nothing wrong with multiple high picks in the draft. Leaves us room for error should we stub our toe on one of them.

Future picks in the 3rd, 4th rounds and on could be picked up when we clear up the logjam in the lineup over the next year or so.

Why? Watching that scout forget name that is on the tube during the draft. He says NHL scouts do watch these young players now. Jackman is the one they are interested in mostly. Only watched video about him. Other than that I know nothing. Just liked the size and weight.PS : Darryl Woodley was the scout.

I like the move with London. We simply don't have roster spots next year, and if we're trying to host for 2027 Mem Cup, this years 3rd would have to be a stud to presumably make the team in 2026. You can't trade players from this draft except 1st rounders. But we can trade the 3rd and the 5th from London next year for help next year and beyond.

Our first two picks this year are 22nd & 24th (from PBO). Draft a guy with the 24th O/A who will report and make an impact, and use the 22nd O/A for a higher end riskier pick, giving the team flexibility to trade that player or if doesn't report then we have 2 firsts next year, both of which could be traded. That's something a buddy of mine has suggested, it makes sense to me.

As per Josh Brown in today's article"

Kitchener defenseman Cameron Reid missed the final two games against Flint with an undisclosed injury and did not take part in Monday’s practice.
Regular-season leading scorer Adrian Misaljevic was also absent with a lower-body injury after falling awkwardly into the side boards in Friday’s clincher against the Firebirds.

Both players are listed as day-to-day.
“We might have them back on Thursday,” said Ahokas. “We’ll see.”

Jussi keeps his cards close to his chest.

Here is hoping they get the rest and rehab needed to at least be good enough to play and make an impact.

I'd be shocked if either Misel or Reid plays in game 1 if they aren't even skating. Unfortunately I think Misel is going to be a while. Hopefully Reid is back fairly soon.
From my view - I thought the Misel incident looked season ending. I get you want to keep your cards close to your chest in the playoffs, I was still shocked to see him listed as day to day.

Cambridge Redhawks have named Todd Bertuzzi as head coach. Curious to see if this impacts how many players get sent to Cambridge to learn under a NHLer or if they continue spread them out across the GOJHL.

Not a good time to start going down. Windsor has their injured guys coming back soon except for Belchetz.

Regarding Spellacy you know this how? Outwater, Mathurin, Belchetz, Winegard, Woodall, Spellacy all out. Yes Christoforo, Lemieux and McNamara all recently back. Certainly some of those still out are consequential losses. Didn’t impact against a lesser opponent but Kitchener is not that. As they say, play who ya got and see how it plays
