With Schaubel sitting all weekend, there must be something up with the cards. MM must be chasing another prospect/FA for Schaubel not to get in all weekend. If they keep this up, Parsons will get burnt out.
I agree. I’m all about trying to keep pace with London and Windsor, but not at the expense of our starter. A one time 3 in 3 isn’t really overworking him, but it is risking injury (is that the same?).

It has to be a cards issue. And it has to be because MM is holding out hope that another ‘08 reports (likely Valentini, who’d automatically get an A card).

I also believe that they’d rather have Valentini / Xu get the last two A cards than either of those two and Schaubel. Nothing against Schaubel, but Parsons is playing the bulk of our games. Doesn’t really matter who the backup is between Schaubel and Edwards. We have 27 regular season games left (no more 3 in 3’s and only 6 more back to back’s). Parsons starts minimum 20-21 of them. Valentini / Xu is a better use of A cards.

Should Valentini report, I see he and Xu getting the 3rd and 4th A cards. Then we swap out Schaubel for Edwards. Schaubel plays at Komoka, gets large minutes and sees a ton of rubber. They won’t be a playoff team so he’ll be back up here mid March.

The Rangers have until Feb 15 to get this sorted out.

Just an FYI but JrB rosters have to be set before Feb 15th ( not sure of the date) so if someone is sent down it has to be before that date.

Brown has an article in the Record regarding Hlachar working out with a champion boxer named Steve Molitor. Can't read it without a subscription. Thought it might interest some posters. :) Everyone needs a poke in the beak once in a while just to bring them back to reality.:naughty:

Hlachar is certainly playing with more discipline, confidence and the training with a professional boxer shows good initiative. I think all the boys could benefit from having an ex-enforcer on the training staff to help develop and prepare for the future.

I agree. If we finish in the 3 spot, we will still most likely be playing Windsor (or the 2 seed whoever that is) in the 2nd round. We need Parsons ready/healthy for a playoff push. I am starting to wonder (way out there thought) if maybe a FA goalie may be coming in, like a Vandenberg type player that has experience. No offence to Schaubel (who I think is better than a FA goalie) or Edwards but if we are going into playoffs counting on them for minutes, we will be hard pressed.

I believe their time is coming. Both Shaubel and Edwards. But not this year.

I know under table agreements are made all the time but I suspect this isn't the case. But I wonder with Schaubel signing with the BCHL in the summer then signing with the Rangers, if he had a handshake agreement not to be sent down??
I know not getting into some games lately it looks like they are avoiding the magical 10 game mark.

He probably had that handshake deal to get him to do the about face and sign here. That likely led to posters like Ref Hannah insisting he’d get into 30 games. But a funny thing happened in this year’s rebuild.

Faced with riding the pines for most of the rest of the season vs playing heavy minutes for a couple months at JrB Komoka, he, his camp, and the Rangers may all come to agree that he’d be better served getting the heavy minutes, A card or not.

Make no mistake. I believe Schaubel’s games played took a nose dive right after the Agreement took place.

He’s only made four appearances since Parsons committed to Clarkson. And I believe Parsons committed to Clarkson a day or two after that agreement was signed.

Before then, he was averaging a game a week.

According to Furfaro, Schaubel is already on an A card?

Even , Edwards stats aren't that great. Would it make a difference?
Edwards had really good numbers last year playing Junior B Elmira. He’s on a very bad Komoka team this year so bad numbers are expected. Schaubel has not had good numbers this year on a very good Rangers team but no matter who the backup is, they won’t play much here anyway.

But, if it means Schaubel not using an A card, then it makes sense to make the switch. But, if Furfaro says he’s already on an A card, this discussion might be for not.

Or maybe Schaubel’s GP is very low simply because this coaching staff doesn’t trust him to get the win.

And just like that. Edwards is on the Rangers roster on the OHL website. He wasn’t there earlier today.
