Any expansion draft I think will be different than expansion drafts of the past.

The hockey world learned a lesson with the recent expansion drafts in the NHL. They learned that if you have healthy expansion teams that can put a decent team on the ice from the get go, they can be successful as a franchise immediately.

I don’t believe the OHL would want to allow a couple expansion teams into the league and have them struggle in attendance and in the standings because of a poor on ice product. They would probably want teams that are immediately decent, if not better than decent. That means short protected lists. That’s the route the NHL went and it proved to be successful.

I can see the OHL going in that direction too. So be prepared if there is expansion, to lose at least one or two players that you don’t want to lose.
Could see teams allowed to keep some age. Don't want just older players available then have massive graduations after one or two seasons.

Weston Cameron will be facing a suspension. 3rd man in and 2nd fight during a stoppage in last nights game vs Ayr.
Just checked out his stats on the Redhawks roster. Noticed a Will Bray on their roster. Is that Jude Bray’s brother? Both listed as from Niagara on the Lake.
With the exodus from the BCHL, could MM get Jude to sign an AP contract and have the Rangers place him in Cambridge to finish out their season together?

Just wondering.

The way past expansion drafts went, teams drafted with present and future in mind.

I figure, as was the case when Brampton / Missy came into the league, we’d lose one younger and one older player. (Tony Gutilla. Mark McMahon).

Likely some connection between the 2. I’d consider it unlikely. Having a good year out there (with power play time) and can’t see him wanting to comeback to play JR B. Who knows what the summer will bring.

Xu's signing does make me wonder what the defence would look like.

Right now (with Chromiak) it has pretty much been:

Ando-Chromiak
Reid-Campbell
Dirracolo-Bilecki

I'm not sure who I would be taken out cause I have liked how Bilecki has looked on the back end.

“According to McKenzie, Xu will remain in the OJHL for now and be used as an emergency call-up if needed”. JB
I think there’s a good chance we see Headrick debut on the road trip.
Well I guess my post isn't needed anymore lol

Operative words "for now"! Which could mean a cpl things,
There's a trade or move coming of an extg Ranger defenceman or another 16 yr old getting an A card. All likelyhood it being Headrick.
How many 16 yr olds are now on an A card...Bilicki and Schaubel with Headrick getting one soon. So "if" I'm correct there's one more spot available, I think we're all hoping for it to be used by Valintini. 🤞

As the rangers first two selections, Headrick & Bilecki are auto-A cards?

By the book, Schaubel technically has yet to claim an A card with only 8GP, but barring anything crazy, he’ll end up eating one of the four.

“Anything crazy”

If it means getting a Valentini or another 08 to sign, and one of the conditions of that signing is that it has to be on an A card, Schaubel is at a game total where he can be bumped back to a B card for the remainder or the season.

Headrick and Bilecki, our first two picks are I think on automatic A cards. If Valentini and, say, Hextall reach out over the holidays and say they’ll sign right now but to an A card only, if I’m MM, they get the 3rd and 4th A cards and Schaubel finishes the season at JrB. He’d still get a bunch of backup appearances here and back with the team when his JrB team’s season is done. (My Schaubel / Edwards swap out scenario at Komoka).

You can find a rundown on Xu in Brock’s mock draft. Scroll down to the honourable mentions.

Great to have another X on the team and a D at that! This is a solid signing and will only help the future of Rangers defense. And yes, Bilecki is coming along nicely as has Dirracolo, Campbell, etc.

Nice to see Weston Cameron mixing it up in Ayr and adding a little Christmas cheer to the game.

Dear Santa........see what you can do about Valentini joining the Rangers!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!! More fun to come!!!

Thank you! Really enjoyed reading the reviews after half a season. Can't speak so much on other teams players but it's promising to see 4 Rangers on the list and 5 if Valentini were to sign.
From what I've seen, the review of Bilecki is very accurate.

It’s signings like this, and possible signings like Valentini and maybe even Bray, Hextall, and others, that lessens (but not eliminates) the need for a very deep draft cupboard going forward.
