We do need to keep the rebuild in mind, as long as the effort is there. If I had to describe their effort in many of the recent games….it would be nonchalant. Not sure if guys are concerned about lack of ice, or possible trades, but I don’t see the same effort that was there earlier in the season.
Having said that, they are still young, and still winning most of their games.
Seem to be off somewhat to what we saw earlier. They were chippier. Not throwing the same amount of hits as before. As the season goes on opponents also get a better handle on the system Rangers are using and find ways to counter it. Especially within the division. Jussi seems happy with their development so far.

Well, the Rangers did have Hlacar and LaBrash in the lineup earlier. Last few games they werent.... even though this present lineup may be more talented but that doesn't lead to a winning lineup.
A wise hockey guy once told me that "having a few "nose boppers" is never a wrong thing"!

As well, early on this season the Rangers were focused on winning races to pucks and out hustling opponents. This gives opportunity to be physical and impose your will. Seems more like they feel their talent can win out. I'm not sure that it can against much more than 50% of this league. Did anyone else see Jussi and assistant (forward guy) tearing a strip off the team when Kitchener went down 5-3 to Owen Sound? They sure as heck picked up the pace afterwards and flipped that game around. Talent also has to work hard.

Having a number of excess players around can cause issues. It's a fact every player in the system wants to be on the ice as much as possible. In hockey it's the definition of a "player". If you get a hard nose coach most players will never ask for more ice unless they want to be traded. I think sooner or later the Rangers have to decide what their plan is going forward and make the appropriate changes to get to that point. I am sure MM and his staff have a handle on this issue. Makes one wonder what is going on behind the scene.
