I know traditional OHL logic say this is a sell year but this team deserves a chance to go for it. The last Blue Jays game this year comes to mind.....the stats and analytics said to take Berrios out of that game, but sometimes you have to go on feeling and the eye test rather than "traditional" thinking. There seems to be something real here with this Kitchener team this year.
If we go for it this year, we’d have to move out the last few picks we have in the cupboard and the return for that won’t bring much. After that, teams will want Reid and Romano.

Then, going into next year, we’ll have a complete barren cupboard having lost a ton to graduation.

That cripples the future of this team for the next few years.

I don’t usually watch away games but decided to check in.

Very entertaining and nasty rivalry game.

Lam just oozes confidence and wasn’t scared as he avoided multiple hits.

Sop had a unreal game and was consistently giving it to the bench and the fans.

I was actually pretty impressed with Scott today as he played a simple game and was giving shots in front of the net and getting in London’s head all game (even in the box).
Side note- I’m not too concern with Rehkopf pulling a Jeff skinner next year as Seattle will likely promote Shane Wright and others and are pretty set on the wings. If the deal is there take if not trade him December next year I’m just don’t think he’s defensively ready and suitable for a 4th line role

I wouldn’t bet on Rehkopf making the Kraken next year, but if he continues this pace, it’ll have to be in the back of MM’s mind. That’s all.

Personally if you guys traded Carson Rehkopf I would expect something similar to the Philip tomasino to Oshawa trade. They can’t do as big of one anymore as they limit it to just 4 years with draft picks I believe. But it would be huge

The picks return for Tomasino was 6x2nds, 3rd, 2x4ths.

You know, in lieu of the 16 year old 1st, you aren’t all that far off.

The Owen Beck deal was Van Volson, DeZoete, 2x2nds, 3rd, 4th.

Van Volsen was the 6th overall pick in the OHL draft. Had he been a defected player, the return for him could have been in the Sam Dickinson / Will Cuylle / Ryan McLeod neighborhood (3x2nds. 3x3rds +).

Swap out Van Volsen for the defected return, and the deal for Beck is:
DeZoete, 5x2nds, 4x3rds, 4th.

So using the Tomasino return can be a realistic trade comparable - give or take.

Contenders Guelph, Missy, Saginaw and Sudbury could do some variation of this deal if they wouldn’t or couldn’t trade their 1st rounder.

Mike is usually up on his stuff, but those comments had me really scratching my head. Not really sure if he is aware of the actual status quo as you outlined ES.
You know, it wouldn’t surprised me if Farwell was pulling a Micheal Landsberg on this one. Playing the devil’s advocate no matter how inane his case is.

Back in the day, on TSN’s Off The Record, Landsberg did that all the time to drum up debate.

I haven’t checked all of the contenders mentioned above but man Missy has the picks and a couple of 2nd round 2007’s in WitowskI and Dragusika not to mention their first rounder, goalie Ivankovic who could really set us up for a run to the cup.

Rehkopf. Best pure goal scorer since Skinner. Had he had the opportunity last year, he may have reached 50. Getting 30 the way he was utilized was a feat in itself. WJC brass should take notice. And yes, wouldn’t be surprised if he gets an extended look next year in Seattle.

I like the way Hamara has progressed. In a rebuilding year, I listen to any offer on any graduating player. He’d be a great addition to a contender. Top four guy on any team but on a contender’s third pairing makes that team’s D a very deep six. But I agree, I don’t give him away just because.

Happy with Mesar right now. Much better all around. Work ethic is there. Unselfish with the puck and without the puck, showing well. A couple nice steals off the opposition last night. I don’t remember him picking pockets last year.

I expect a tough game vs London. Physically tough I mean. From what I understand, the Boultons have brought a very physical aspect and the rest of the team are following suit. I look for Andonovski to get chased around all night. Will be interesting watching Brzustewicz vs Brzustewicz!

Credit where credit is due. Have to give a hats off the the broadcasting duo. I haven’t heard a ton of play by play during the games as I watch on TV when I can’t get to the game. But the pre and post game, which I do tune in to, is much better and though still a little rusty, Fixter has been getting more comfortable. So far, these guys are a lot closer to Don and Gary than Farsie and Poper.
Don and Gary set a pretty high bar. The thing about Fixter is that he's a coach and I'm not sure coaches ever cared a lot of players names. It was probably more of a "hey you" or "effing hustle" or some nickname that was easier to remember. Lol. The thing that comes across to me is that Fixter really seems to be enjoying himself. He appreciates the game at this level and he seems genuinely happy to be a part of it again. His analysis is pretty good and his stories are top notch. I think he'll grow into the broadcasting side and get better with names and stuff pretty quickly. His progress has already been impressive. Like you said, he's comfortable and that's saying a lot at this point of the season,

Could be right. I was just a bit disappointed in the wording. Love the guy's passion for the team, and I feel he does a fantastic job in media - for both hockey and for the community. In the end though, it will be up to MM. Not MF, me, or anyone else.

Knowing Mr. McKenzie and how well the team is doing, I really doubt he does an all-out sell. In fact, if he trades anyone away, I doubt it would be more than one player. But to have any chance of having successful back-to-back drafts I am sending out my plea to somehow get a 3rd rounder back in the cupboard for next year's draft at the very least. Our record for quality consecutive drafts hasn't been good in recent years. This would at least increase the odds a bit.

You pointed it out though ES, and it is important. Our record may be looking quite good relative to other teams at the moment. However, in January the line-ups of the contenders (I'm referring to other teams here) won't look like they do now.....and this Ranger team ain't gonna win any "arms race". So our odds of going all the way will take a hit after the deadline no matter what MM does IMO.......unless that miracle happens that I had mentioned yesterday - some how, some way an American draft pick decides he wants to join the Jussi Express. :)

I would do one sort of surprise sell. Swick or Miseljevic. Both are 19 year olds and both should be back for their OA season. Swick has size that any playoff team would covet and Miseljevic has offence that any team would love to add in their top six. I think they could get a pretty solid return on either of them.

The one thing about Miseljevic is that if he can prove that he can score without the benefit of having Rehkopf as a linemate, maybe this is a possibility (?) Things didn't appear to click on that new 2nd line vs NB, but obviously yesterday the results were better.

Not sure what Hunters game plan was last night other than to injure the Rangers top players with hits from behind. Knights have the talent to beat any team in the league on any given night without resorting to the cheap shots we saw in this game. Any how the Rangers have the talent to compete with any team in the league at the moment. They get a lot of decent looks every game and with a bit of luck it's in the back of the net. Reid and Romano are playing with some high caliber talent and this will only make them better players when they get back into the line up. Not sure what the game plan is going forward now with the success the team is having. I think it will temper the idea of a complete rebuild. Rangers haven't been this exciting for years. Having this great start and total team chemistry has to give MM and whoever a pause for thought about what to do going forward. It will be interesting to see the decisions made for sure.

1 player I'd trade Brady Martin for is Carson, not going to lie. As a Soo fan there only 2 players I'd be comfortable moving him for Misa and Carson Rehkopf.

Not sure other Hound fans share the sentiment and probably call me crazy but..I know some agree.

Every season, there should be some selling to replenish the cupboards. Without any trades this yr to bring in picks or younger players would be regrettable the next few yrs when our 2023 draft picks are in their OHL prime.

How has Martin been playing? He did miss time with an injury, no?

Yes knee, played 1 game after his injury and is now at U17.

I thunk he looks great , some work to do without the puck at time but he's physical and engaged, looks like a man out there. He drives the puck, he doesn't shy away and give the puck away. He's taken some big hits now, so becoming less afraid lol. The injury didn't help point production but without the injury it would be hard not to think his points would be much higher.

OK.....looking ahead.....OS.....then the Petes.....then the Soo. Rangers basically get a day in between each game so that's a help. Any game in OS is always a tough one. Both the Petes and the Soo sit at the top of their division. Yet another test for this young team. But then, I've been saying "This is the test." for several weeks now...

Add Guelph to my list of potential trade partners. They had a really nice 2007 draft as well. Beauchesne (1st rd D), McFadden and Snelgrove (2nd forwards).
Adding this type of talent to our own and allowing our coaching staff years to develop them could be super exciting.

This is true Ward. Hopefully the Rangers have some sort of game plan going forward here. I think the turn around from last years fiasco has to have them in shock at the moment. With the Mem Cup in Ontario and two squads guarantied to be in the mix there will be inquiries about some Rangers players for sure. I think the Rangers being a business will still want play off revenue if they continue to stay in that position. Most teams make some sort of trades every year whether it's players or draft picks. I think the Rangers will do something for the future looking at the draft cupboard. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Playing and developing in a winning and character building environment is probably the best possible scenario for these kids. Learning what it takes to be competitive in this league and experience playoff hockey has its merits but if MM can figure out how best to add to this group and restock our picks we are going to be good!!!!
