I counted 1 London scoring chance to Kitchener’s 5 before the penalty. Can't be taking those late. London is fast, but they weren't super dangerous that period. Brochu seemed to get caught on a few of those chances.

This is a much more confident looking Brochu than last year (I know he was injured).
I saw the opposite honestly. A lot of movement for some pretty routine saves, including one he fumbled a bit off his pad.

He's making the stops when it counts. Marco isn't so far.

Another bad penalty to take. The plan is unfolding right in front of us. I remember this team!
Diaco ducked down into Motew stick. Bad call IMO. But no excuses. The rest of the calls were good ones. On the Hamara penalty, they could have called Motew as well on the take down of the London player.

Pinelli’s absence is glaring. Not only on the 1st line. The bottom six is affected. Martin’s absence from the 3rd line gives Rehkopf little to work with. Swick missing off the 4th line hurts too.

Nothing against Martin on line 1, Swick on line 3 or Bottineau on line 4, but ……

Further, in Game 3 vs Windsor, it was the Rehkopf / Martin show. Game four the Spits were done.

Should they put Swick back up on line 1 to keep lines two and three that started the playoffs intact?

All things considered. I am not super upset about this ones.

The mistakes they made tonight was glaring and can be fixed as the series goes on.

Getting Pinelli back in this series is going to be massive as well.

No dumb penalties. Be a little more aggressive on the rush. We'll be fine.

I am not worried about this game 1 loss.

Also, we really got to stop with having Moore and Schmidt on the power play.

Run 4 forwards and Bruzzer on 1st PP.

Run Motew and Moore if you're going to play 2 d on PP2

Point taken but the 2nd PP unit was the least of our problems. We need to handle the pressure London is putting on the puck a lot better or it's over. We had no open ice after the first period.

We had some good looks in the first period but we really haven't made Brochu make a good save yet.

They had a stretch in the first where they were strong in and around the blue ice n I thought Lon would be in trouble.
I expect Kitchener to have more of that game 2 thru the entire game.
Tough when a couple PPGs set ya back after a tight first 19 min where KTown had the better chances
