It's happening :scared:

Joking aside, if Kirby & Newhook get over the brutal early season slump and start producing at the levels most expected from them back in August, 2025 is going to be a lot of fun in habsland (minus the copious amount of crow some posters will be chewing on lol)
Dach maybe can reach the level people hoped but you really think Newhook with his negative hockey iq can become a top 6 nhl player? In my opinion he will be a 35/45 points third liner at best in his prime and at worst a khl/ahl star.

I think it's a very poor assessment to suggest that Newhook has "negative IQ"...

But even worse, you are suggesting that his prime will be 2-10 points greater than his rookie & sophomore seasons (@ 20 & 21), and the same as what he put up in 55 games on one of the lowest scoring rosters in the league in a season where most of his production came after returning from a high ankle sprain.

That makes no sense at all.

Let Dach’s breakaway goal be a lesson to Team Canada and all kids everywhere. Straight ahead speed, forehand/backhand (or vice versa obviously). Keep it simple. Even the best goalies in history are at your mercy.

Or just do my other favourite move, The Surly Sid:

How this make no sense at all? He is has 8 points in 35 games this year. He is closer to be out of the league than being a top 6 player. Anyway with our future forward core their is no place for him on the top 6 so how will he get more than 35/45 points playing on the third line with minimal pp time?

How many points did he have last year?

How old is he?

How do scoring forwards that play 200+NHL games typically progress in their next 200 games?

There's your answers.

This isn't a Newhook thread, so I won't keep talking about him. Feel free to bring this up again in 3-4 years ;)

This time his improvement was real and wasnt cope.
Or people are able to see improved play without having to rely on the scoresheet to tell them someone is playing well.

I see it all the time on these boards. Certain folks refuse to see and acknowledge good play on a player they’ve soured on unless they put up points.

It was obvious to everyone without a chip on their shoulder that his play improved the last few games and that points would follow if he continued to play and progress.

You framing it as cope is the REAL cope here lol
he had 1 point in 16 games before today, bro. It was cope.

People saw what they wanted to see. He has one good game. Let's relax, yeah?

He had one good game to YOU because you will only acknowledge such if he ends up on the scoreboard. That is the only reason you’re begrudgingly admitting this. And the proof is that you can’t even admit it without still being negative,

I know it’s not an easy thing to see that a player is playing well even when they don’t score. Not all hockey fans have that ability

Again…sounding copey haha
Lulz you got me. Let's forget the offensive blockhole he was for 16 games where he also took terrible penalties every other game that cost us plenty of times. Let's forget all of that because of one good game.

Having said that, this is one step in the right direction. I always said we should give him until game 41 (the midway point for those who are bad at math) to re-evaluate where we stand with him in the top 6, and my mind hasn't changed on that.

Buddy, he had plenty of bad games. People saw what they wanted to see on both sides, both good and bad.

I’ve said it a million times that he’s been shit all year. But I’m not immature to the point where I can’t admit that he’s been playing well the last 4-5 games.

And your response is to ignore, bring up a 16 stretch that no one is talking about and just be negative

If he continues to play as he has the last 4-5 games, the points will continue to come and that will do wonders for posters like you whom seem to only be able to see good play by stat watching

Are we still coping here or what? lol.

You saying that he wasn’t playing better when he was and saying the people who said he was were ‘coping’ IS THE COPE.

No one is saying he wasn’t playing bad so I don’t know why you keep reiterating that lol. People were saying this game was being lead up to by good play prior and you’re saying it was cope.

As long as he’s improving since the beginning of the season it gives you a good indicator that it was rust and injury related. Not that he’s a bum who was never good like many were suggesting.

I saw a player that was playing poorly and taking bad penalties to boot. Calling someone immature because they don't agree with you is silly. We all want Dach to succeed because that means the Habs success. I am still not sold on him as our 2C going forward because I believe, even at his best, he is a flawed player. I am a Hab fan first, and I don't put any players ahead of the team.

I don't agree he was improving. He has been up and down all season. There were games where I found he was regressing and playing a lazy and dumb game.

Forgiven? Don't think they give a shit about some dude on a message board's forgiveness.
Settle down, bravestar. We are all nobodies on a message board. Do you really think that I think people care what I think? Get a grip, man.
