Player Discussion Kirby Dach (Part 3): TabarDach Edition!

He had 4 years to establish himself into something. Dach hasn't played more than 60 games in a season with the habs. He isn't a top-six forward and got pushed down the lineup by Kapanen. He isn't really a good center and that's why he keeps getting switched up between center and winger.

4 million for one year is best case scenario for the player, getting a cap hit raise after his tenure would be something. If you extend him at a lower cap hit for more years, you just know he'll get pushed down the lineup by at least Hage/Zharovsky, maybe more and the minutes/responsabilities will keep sinking with potentially many more games missed.

You keep Caufield and surround him with better players.

While people may want to automatically discard the guys who happened to have a poor playoff, it should be noted that you still need guys to get you to the dance, if you are to do anything at the dance.

Playoffs are are not easy to make in this division, and i suspect Florida will be back to muddy the waters further.

Bolduc is and was much better than Dach all season and series long. To say that Dach was dragged down by Bolduc is quite the statement.

No, I said he wasn't going to produce playing center with Bolduc and Veleno, but that he was on a great line, as a winger, with Evans at C and Bolduc on the other wing. How could you possibly interpret that as me saying he was dragged down by Bolduc.

I'm a fan of Bolduc - because I think he can grow his game past some of the current limitations we see in his game.

I’m not a Daxh fan at all, I wouldn’t give him 4m, but I would offer him a Texier type of deal. At worst, he doesn’t pan out and another team takes a flyer on him. Personally, I think he’s a shitty hockey player well beyond injuries and work ethic.

I didn't see much of the Carolina series. But what did you expect him to do playing with Veleno and Bolduc 8 minutes a night? I wouldn't expect any production.

What was wrong with Dach-Evans-Bolduc as a bottom six line? Why did they ever switch that up?

He lost his promising career by not putting in the work. He lost his career by coming in and acting like he made it.

He's Kotkaniemi in a different font, and the only reasons hes not ran out of town are because he's a good canadian boy and because hes a good Hughes boy.

Can he ? I think hes shown he cannot.

That's kind of obvious. Basically the NHL piece added on top of higher value picks and prospects.

He played with Evans and Bolduc because that's where he belongs, bottom 6. At best.

Agreed. But he brought offensive life to that line. First time we saw Evans' offense from the bottom six come pit since when Evans was playing with Armia and Heineman. I see Dach as potentially a better bottom sixer than Armia. No more no less. But better offensively, and hopefully he becomes better defensively, though he has to be able to cut it defensively.

I never know if I'm trying to guess the future or expressing a want by voting.

I imagine they qualify him to not lose the asset for free unless they know something is coming where they need that 4m$.

Because in his 1st year with Habs, he have showing great things... but after that because injuries, 1 year missing... not the same.

Unless you have a better option, you bring Dach back at 4 mil because he did contribute in the playoffs. At the end of the year Hage will come and compete with him and maybe take his job. I said it when I first saw him. He needs to improve his work ethic to get to loose pucks and create for his linemates. His finishing is getting better but his playmaking needs to be supported with better effort. Also, tends to get distracted when he throws his body around when his first objective ought to be to get the puck to his linemates.
