At one point tough decisions are gonna have to be made with players like dach newhook struble xhekaj and others.

They are just not adding anything of value to this team and should not play in the top 6 (the fowards) if we plan to compete for a cup.

Xhekaj isn't adding anything?

Why buy him out?

Even if he's not a 2c, he can still develop into a good winger. And, his cap hit is only 3.5M.
How is a guy that can’t shoot, can’t defend and is 6’4 and refuses to be physical 90% of the time going to be a good winger?

Part of it is what you wrote, other part is that you can’t rely on him to dress up consistently. Players like Tim Connolly are not to be kept around if you want stability.

He can’t be counted on and we are above that for our next leap up.

For starters, Dach would have to get his stride back, which take time after knee injuries. If he can't get it back, he may be put of the NHL. Second, defending on the wing is easier than at center. There have been good playmaking wingers.

Drouin had a lot of flaws that made him useless for us, regardless of what he's doing in Colorado. I don't see Dach, if he gets his stride back, as being nearly as flawed as Drouin.

I'm speechless, the non-injury prone Dach, who never played a full season in any league, injured his right knee twice, after his wrist, but don't forget, he's not injury prone...

Reminds of when the Expos had pitcher Tony Armas who was constantly getting injured. At one point, fans got fed up of him and spelled his name phonetically to evoke the body parts he was bound to injure next.

« Toe-knee Arm-ass. »

I love how some take pleasure in someone's misfortune. Before his injury last year, he was well on his way to being a very good player. Injuries happen in sport. I sympathize with Dach - I care more about the individual.
yup
here is score or if you get hurt to much screw you

but Guhile has been injured lots and no one wants him run out

Yeah he never quite reached that level we saw prior to injury this year. He did get better slowly, but I am concerned at this point that it was all a flash in the pan.

The unfortunate thing for him is that injuries have taken things out of his control to an extent.

But it's a business, and dach has becoming an increasingly risky player to invest in. I think hugo are keeping their horizons open for a top 2 center at this point.

I don't like the options available. Bennett is a good player, but the fact remains that he hasn't even gotten 50 points playing next to stars with a playstyle that isn't durable ,and he'll probably get 8.5x7. Pettersson has had the biggest fall-off from a superstar I've ever seen, and even if I think he can bounce back, he's made it clear he hates dealing with the nonstop media, which is only worse here. A guy like Cozens is more of a winger. It's definitely revisionist history, but not trading our cap dumps for PLD or re-signing Monahan when Evans is apparently only asking for 1.5 million less definitely hurts.

Winning a spot to draft Misa would definitely be a game changer as I think he's NHL ready.
You and others may not be crazy about Bennett and some suitors may also be turned off for the reasons you gave but for a market like Montreal that isn’t attractive to free agents, this might just be the type of player that can be had.

Habs might even have to pay a little more but at least you’re filling a need and it’s costing no assets (only some cap space that will eventually be offset by Gallagher/ Anderson exiting).

Also, consider the Habs’s record with landing or developing quality centres in the past 30 years. Habs stumbled on Suzuki by some miracle. It won’t happen again.

There goes any trade value he may have.
Uhh what kind of trade value you think he had to begin with lol

People talking about buyouts too like are you guys serious lol

He has 1 yr 3.3M left, we're going to be OK lol
Just because we gotta find a real new 2C, doesn't mean Dach can't become somewhat serviceable as a top6 winger
We SAW him do it 2 years ago

Or, he gets moved for a pick
It happens.

Probably why he sucked so much this season. Hope he's 100% next fall in camp
Would make sense if he didn't have that short stretch of games where he decided to play. No I just think his problem is discipline and maturity. Some folks just don't have what it takes to work in high pressured environments. I'm one of them. I know, when I'm facing what it looks like odds I can't beat, I'll just f*** off and laze. Kirby seems to be roughly doing similar. Maybe a contender would be interested to know if he'd behave the same on their team, but then again with all the injuries... He should plan for a second career imho.

He had SOME. Now he has NONE. Easy enough, eh?

Dach has a good combination of size and skill and was coming back after a serious injury, but on top of being injury-prone he also took far too many bad or clumsy penalties this year and, lo and behold, has the 2nd worse +/- in the entire league. Stats aren’t the whole story, but it is telling that he was basically on the ice for an extra even-strength goal against every two games; none of the other regulars on this team is anywhere close to that.

I didn’t have a problem with the trade for him at the time, but I am not going to miss him and would rather watch Beck play in his spot anyway.

Agree, my first thought was for the young man. He'll have to go through another recovery period all over again, It's hard on the mental.
