you mean like 99% of fans and commentators? he played like ass and did not show signs he’d be back to nhl form ever, nothing crazy.

I can admit he’s doing much better although I’d move him at wing asap and get a real 2c.

It's ridiculous to suggest that 99 percent of professional commentators thought Dach was finished as an NHL contributor.

That's just plainly and simply not true.

I think he plays his best with Gallagher, really simplifies the game for him, just throw it to the guy skating to the net

He only took 4 faceoffs!?
He seems to be splitting them with Newhook, either intentionally or by getting thrown out, not sure which. Newhook had 5, Dach had 4.

But a lot has to do with they just didn't get put out in the defensive zone. The line was put out for 9 faceoffs, 5 were OZ faceoffs, and 3 were NZ faceoffs. When you are sheltering guys by not putting them out for DZ faceoffs the total number of faceoffs becomes fairly low.

I obviously don't understand leg injuries, but I'm peeved at this decline.

"Suzuki, Caulfield, Dach" was how people including the GM described the offensive core.

Moves on the board with a puck on his stick and with the speed of a turtle. Gets pushed a little bit. Takes a dive. Doesn't try get up. He goes on his knees and watches the PP going on. He realizes the puck is lost. Gets up and tries to skate back with snail's pace. Hughes scores the SHG.

Sign this bust for next 10 years.

I think Hughes should consider throwing his reclamation project playbook out the window. The trade looks iffy right now. Romanov is a rock and the better player, Nazar is more promising, and so Dach looks like the losing end of a three-way trade.

Newhook trade isn't much better... but his game could adapt better to a complimentary role. He has the speed, tenacity and scoring touch to become a great third line winger. A Newhook-Beck-Heineman third line sounds like a nightmare to play against. His lesser draft pedigree and lack of production means he could be signed long term at a bottom 6 salary.

I dont know if Dach has the speed to recycle himself as a big forechecking beast like Anderson and Armia did. His best skill is his hands and they are not good enough to be a real threat. His usefulness as a bottom 6 player is doubtful, as he is surprisingly not dominant as a puck protector on the cycle and he doesnt involve himself enough in the defensive zone, because he just doesnt have that kind of buzzsaw motor. At this stage, I feel like there might not be a role for him either on a scoring line or a depth line. He also has poor body English, doesn't strike me as a super coachable kid, and carries a worrysome injury history... There's a legitimate possibility he is out of the league sooner rather than later. Yet he could also turn it around and find his game to become the player envisionned when he was drafted 3rd overall.
Aside from the Carrier trade which was a mid range move his other moves have been the result of having a rookie GM.Whats scary is that JG is not a rookie and unless they change their stragedy this summer the rebuild will probably take forever .We have no idenity after three years and amost have to start all over again with the Dach,Newhook disasters....rinse - repeat . :scared::deadhorse oh and then there's the coaching thing

I hope that Dach realizes that he had an awful year and it's on him. He needs to train hard over the next 8 months, as hard and as well as he's ever trained, or he will be on his way to a career in Europe.

I'm not writing off Dach at this point, but if things are going to move forward with this team there needs to be a legit #2 centre added for next year. In order to maximize his potential, Demidov needs someone reliable at centre at both ends of the rink.

Instead of being gifted the 2nd line C and PP time, some competition needs to be given to Dach to hopefully help push him to take the next step and earn his opportunities.
