Kingston Frontenacs 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

Trade freeze over tomorrow for the month of June. Do the Fronts move any of their OA's out in June?
I’ll say 1 of Soto/Miedema/mcgowan gets traded this month. IMO all 3 of those guys get traded, Soto and Miedema for other reasons but still have some value, McGowan because someone will want him- better to trade a guy like that early before the market gets filled with more talented players.

I’ll lean towards Soto. IMO if they could’ve traded him earlier they would’ve. Soto should be the first one to go. Then August/september then McGowan September/october

All 3 plus Battaglia get traded this year that’s my prediction. Battaglia should be at deadline unless they want to try what Kitchener did last year early on with Rehkopf

Battaglia should get a first rounder from this year, so I would say he goes at the deadline. Unless of course someone throws a ton of draft picks and an excellent 2nd year player.

Exactly my thinking. All depends on what they want to do. Do they want a crap ton of draft picks or do they want a first rounder and potentially building around 3 first round picks?

However with the landscape changing in the CHL it may be unrealistic to plan and prepare now for years to come with so much uncertainty. Look at Victoria they were top contenders for next year and now they lost their 2 best players for next year.

This NCAA rule absolutely screwed the CHL

Kingston already has two ‘09-1sts, but no ‘08-1sr. An ‘08-1st or a couple of ‘07s might be better?

Thing is- if that ‘08 first is likely to be traded already 1 season in, chances are they didn’t have the best first season and the value wouldn’t be the highest. Guys like Zurawski, Mbuyi, Di iorio, belchetz, Wassilyn, Fitzgerald, Vaughan won’t be available for sure and that’s the top 7

Then teams like Guelph which may not be competing too hard this year may not want to give up McLean,

Ottawa has 2 first round picks but then Kingston has to deal their best player to one of their biggest rivals,

Erie won’t be going for it so challenger won’t be available

Sudbury probably won’t be going for it either so a guy like Blonda won’t be available

Brantford may be going for it so O’Donnell could be available perhaps but didn’t have the best rookie year.

Kitchener probably wants headrick for their mem cup bid in 2026/27 so he’s prob not available

North bay may have Carey available but we will see I think they’d be best to keep him for the mem cup year in the O and north bay should be strong, same with Ryder Cali.

Soo will keep smith they traded Gibson for him- likely won’t be going anywhere soon.

Zhilkin is amazing I can’t see Saginaw making him available especially since they may end up losing Misa and or parekh

London will be losing a lot of guys and Hawery should be a big part of their future can’t see them getting rid of him. Not to mention pretty sure he forced his way to go to london in the first place.

Realistically if he gets traded for any first rounders it’ll be to Ottawa- a rival team, Guelph who has a lot of question marks including whether or not Luchanko is back which may end up that if they don’t get him back they don’t go for it and even if they do- he could get traded. Big wild card team. Or Brantford for a guy who kinda underperformed this year

I think they take the picks for Battaglia personally or wait until deadline and nab an ‘09

5 that could be available are Noah Laus - Soo F (personally hope we get this guy)

Alex Semensov- Barrie F (smaller but put up lots of points perhaps similar to Owen griffin in AAA)

Ryan Kacynski - Soo F

David Buchman - BFD D (and only D on list imo)

John McLaughlin- WSR F

One team you left off that might have a ton of players to trade is Niagara The Dogs are a dumpster fire right ow and players want out. The only issue is would any player want to go there/

I don’t think a Battaglia for Wassilyn/roobroeck/czata/edgar trade works out because 3/4 are very good as it is now- kingston if anything would probably have to pay extra to get one of them.

Edgar likely is gone by September because of the rumour he won’t be reporting and we don’t have the picks I don’t think to get that done unless we did a Battaglia for Edgar and picks swap by the deadline for defective players

Niagara would certainly have to accept a lot of picks. But not a lot of 2007-08 born players can play in the newly loaded NCAA, so some players would report to Niagara.

An off-season gutting of the IceDogs would not be what Kingston, Oshawa, Sudbury, and likely Brampton want to see. It would probably be good for Windsor, Brantford, NB though; and Flint, Guelph would be in a great position to acquire two year players.

Yeah, but right now players that are looking at the NHL or going forward, as well as those that liked BB, are aligned with a team with NO GM, no coach, a weak owner and no real plan.

If the players say no play to the new GM and their agents decide that they do not want their players playing on the team The Dogs are gong to be limited. USHL not NCAA, is an option for players this year.

I agree, though, that the Fronts would not be able to get a lot but if there are players available, then Cooper would be foolish not to make a few offers.

I will guess not many view a lower profile league further from home without a guaranteed scholarship program as a better alternative.

Btw Miedema didn’t get signed by deadline.

Therefore officially will be back unless he wants to go to school
I am sure he will get an invite to a pro rookie camp but yeah probably he will be back for another year. Where may be the only question.

First trade of the year kicks off with Brantford landing Sam Mccue. Wonder when our trades start to happen. Believe cooper said it would be a busy off season.

Brantford likely going to win the division 2 years in a row. Can’t see Kingston or Oshawa going for it. Ottawa should be alright but not super strong- same with Pete’s. 1 of Oshawa and Kingston likely misses playoffs. I think it’ll be Kingston.

For central they have 3 good teams Niagara, north bay and Barrie. Maybe Barrie comes out of their division. Sudbury should be better than us and Oshawa, Brampton I assume gets 10th spot in conference and maybe last in the whole OHL.

In all likelyhood after Battaglia is trade those 2 are probably our best players. Gonna be a rough year I feel.
Yeah I've got really high hopes for Dervin next year - him and Hopkins as a 1-2 down the middle is pretty solid but especially after Battaglia is traded I'm not completely sold on their winger depth - but all that means is that there'll be more opportunity up the line-up for guys like Kulemin and Kelly.

Will be interesting to see what happens over the summer and whether they move Battaglia early or if they wait to try and get a 1st rounder - but as always it's TBD on who'll be available. If it was my choice I'd wait until the deadline - get them off to a solid start before looking at re-stocking.

Absolutely. Will be a young team lots of kinks to figure out but hopefully some of the younger ones step up.

All depends for me. If a guy like Ryerson Edgar is available come August/September they should look at trading for him- but if he isn’t then I’d probably wait to deadline. Or if they think there’s going to be lots of guys (like sennecke) who may hold more value than Battaglia, trading him early would be best bet for picks. Either way they should get some real solid assets and have a young team the next year or two.

I wouldnt rule anything out with Kitchener just yet. I suspect we will be looking for a top 9 upgrade but would think we would be going after other players first. But we could use Battaglia. Just too many bodies on our roster right now to sort out first. We have alot of players like Headrick so he could be available.

My impression was tht the Rangers are gearing up to host the M Cup. I would tink that, with the little fdraft capital you have, you want to keep.

I am not ruling out the Fronts staying pat with what they have if they are a top 4 team at the break. Battaglia will be a deadline deal for sure. London is the one that always makes the early deals, and they are retooling.

With the influx of US and NCAA Canadian kids the league this year is going to be interesting.

I see Oshawa as the bottom, Brampton, a lot will depend on who they get back and who they lose

OHL4Life on his X account has posted that Kingston maybe will be making a trade for an import from a Western Conference team. No names as he is not sure how close the trade is.
Personally think Ruslan Karimov would make sense as Sarnia has a ton of good young forwards and karimov could fit our team the next 2 years.

Also believe he didn’t get too much ice time with the sting so perhaps he’s asking out?

I took a look through last year's Western U19 imports and agreed he probably makes the most sense. Don't get me wrong I'd take Protas but something tells me that's not quite a realistic expectation...

We are gearing up. I believe its at least a 2 year run starting this upcoming season.
We have too many bodies as it is and rumors of getting more bodies pushing players down the lines. With that, we are going to be moving out some good players that may get that draft capital back. This is where if the right deal comes along for an upgrade somewhere, Headrick could be available.
Lots up for discussion with Kitchener's offseason. Just waiting for the first trade/signing so we see where we start.

Kitchener has Pobezal who said he wants to come to CHL. Kitchener GM basically said in KW Record that if he comes he will be traded. Kitchener is in the west. It’s for sure an option. OHL4LIFE did say “no” to some of the names being thrown out on Twitter but didn’t say no to Pobezal in the post..

Also not to be a stalker but I searched up pobezal on Instagram. He’s following kingston and Kingston is following him back. Only other team he’s following in CHL is Kitchener. Could be him.
