Uronen has signed his entry level deal with Vegas
Was pretty obvious that should happen. Good for him. Not sure what the big hold up was for.

Part of the delay may have been the playoffsWas pretty obvious that should happen. Good for him. Not sure what the big hold up was for.
Like anything. Doesn’t matter what number you go it’s what you do after. Just first round picks are more likely to succeed but we see people drafted in later rounds and going undrafted find success too.Part of the delay may have been the playoffs
The other thing to remember is that he was a 6th-round pick. Yes, he had a good year this year, and his stats are reasonable otherwise, but there was a reason he only went in the 6th round.
I think with his size he should be a surprise in Henderson next year.
No you are over thinking my post. The post earlier stated they were surprised that it took so long. I was just stating why it might have.Like anything. I’m confused if you mean you’d be surprised if he plays on Henderson or you’d be surprised if he does well.
Uronen plays a rough game and gets in the opponents heads. Can throw down some hits sometimes. Should put on some weight though. 15-20 lbs wouldn’t hurt going against bigger, stronger and faster competition.
Any idea about uens going to university like D1 or USports? Guys a brainiac but not a brainiac who is better than McGowan or bishop at playing hockeyPretty good indicator from Troy's interview today discussing OA'S returning that McGowan & Bishop mentioned and Uens was not when he was discussing D.

Offseason sit down with Head Coach Troy Mann - Kingston Frontenacs
After a busy first month of the offseason that saw the OHL and U18 OHL Priority Selections take place in addition to hosting Development Camp, the Hockey Operations staff has finally had a chance to breathe. For Head Coach Troy Mann, this allowed him to sit down with us to review the 2024/25...chl.ca
Uens has been telling everyone he’s going home to Napanee to play JR C with the Raiders but that seems like an awful step down.Any idea about uens going to university like D1 or USports? Guys a brainiac but not a brainiac who is better than McGowan or bishop at playing hockey
Napanee would be the closest to Queens where he could find a team. He may have decided that there is not much avail in the CHL for him.Uens has been telling everyone he’s going home to Napanee to play JR C with the Raiders but that seems like an awful step down.
Likely to be middle of the pack and have a soft sell to replenish some picks.Looking at the East next year, Kingston should be a top 4 team at the break.
If that is the case should Cooper
a. still sell
b. stay status quo
c. buy cheap
Oh for sure you’d think he would atleast want to go to university. Maybe down the road?Uens has been telling everyone he’s going home to Napanee to play JR C with the Raiders but that seems like an awful step down.
I don't think anything is in stone yet.Oh for sure you’d think he would atleast want to go to university. Maybe down the road?

If I am not mistaken, it is a little too late to apply for University as a full-time student. I think he might do the online thing and then apply next year. If he is any good he may get a NCAA offer no matter where he plays
Hockey wise I would agree, but universities in Canada are not as sports-driven, and if classes are full for registration, there is little that can be done. If the freshman class of 2025 is full how do you add another person to the class you sure can not kick someone out.they would make room for him if he wanted to go. usports are begging for chl players right now with the new ncaa rules

I would argue some don't give a shit about what class they take that they are their to play hockey because its another path for them to go pro eventually.Hockey wise I would agree, but universities in Canada are not as sports-driven, and if classes are full for registration, there is little that can be done. Really I do not see that many going on to pro careers. Even if they do they are going to still need carers. Yes ther are players that star and get Euro contracts but there are still a lot that do not,I would argue some don't give a shit about what class they take that they are their to play hockey because its another path for them to go pro eventually.
School teams like NB & Guelph and send most of their kids off to pro and Usports is just another path to get there.
The kids that are not good enough to go NCAA or get a lower level pro offer like ECHL, SHL, DEL, ETC will still go to Usports.
It's not that they are not as Sports driven per say it's they don't have the financial backing / donors that NCAA schools do to buy players.
Tons of them go ECHL / Europe right out of Usports. Not uncommon at all.Really I do not see that many going on to pro careers. Even if they do they are going to still need carers. Yes ther are players that star and get Euro contracts but there are still a lot that do not,
It makes no sense for players to waste the money the CHL gives them to attend basket-weaving courses.
If you are going to be there, then you might get an education as well.

Yea it's way more lucrative then some people think.second division in europe you can make some decent coin for a few years and if you have a passport from a parent so your not an import it gets you even more.
Luckily/Unluckily I'm not sure if Kingston has anyone at the level of the players that are leaving - the only one would maaaybe Hopkins but even then I haven't seen many mid-round picks leave before their final year, although it has only been one year.Just saw this but the Victoria Royals in the WHL lost not 1, but 2 superstars to the NCAA today.
Cole Reschny a likely top 15/20 NHL draft pick this year and Keaton Verhoeff who many regard as the best defenceman in next years stacked 2026 draft. Likely to be top 5.
Poor Victoria. This is likely the new norm for the smaller market teams with minimal playoff success. Furthest they’ve been since 2011 (when they joined WHL) is the second round.
Hopefully kingston doesn’t fall victim anytime soon.

Good pointI think we'll see a lot of players wait and see how this new crop of young players do in the NCAA before committing - if players like Reschny and Verhoeff don't do well or don't get ice time to develop it could deter younger players going forward.
