Kingston Frontenacs 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

4-2 is a blowout? Alright then.
Wouldn't call it a blow out but it was a pretty one sided affair.
Sudbury just isn't getting enough Grade A chances in this series to do any damage.
Schenkel is going to stop those point shots all day.

Context folks. Frontsfan67 didn't make that post when the game ended. He made it when it was 4-1 in the second period, a period that felt like it was those most dominating period to date for Kingston and game three. So it did feel that way. Sudbury weathered the storm and was able to keep it close but the game was never in question. I think wolves fans have bigger things to worry about than the wording of a simple post.

I expect a push from the Wolves tonight, particularly if Delic is indeed back. The Street debate is nonsensical. He offers nothing that will help Sudbury win. No one is intimidated by him. Leading up to the play where he was penalized he was stood up by Uens (160 lbs) and was embarrassed and took a terrible trip penalty on Uronen. right after out of frustration. Then actually embarrassed himself while in the box with whatever that was he was trying to do. Lol.

I kept this post here as opposed to the Sudbury thread where they are a bit too sensitive. This way I can merely say I was responding to a post from a Wolves fan on our thread.

The Sudbury takes are so surprisingly bad that I can't even contain myself from responding to them lol.
-Street being an impact player LOL. -The comment about needing him out there more is pure gold. Kingston players are literally begging for him to be on the ice during the game.
-Complaining about Kingston's commentators then theirs's being 5x worse at simple name pronunciation.
-Making fun of a Kingston's attendance game 1 and 2 and then having a half empty arena.
I'm sorry but if the game plan is to send Street out to "punish" Kingston this could be a hilarious game to watch.

-Street is sometimes effective in a 4th line spot shift kind of way but aside from that, there's not much going on there.
-Both teams commentators suck. One group is a biased bunch of homers, the other group doesn't know who's playing half the time
-Different reasons for attendance figures and I know Kingston has major ice storm issues over the weekend but the Frontenacs with this group should have much better attendance in the next rounds or even the rest of this series however long it lasts.

Agreed.
I live about an hour from Kingston and pretty much everything within 3-4 hours of Kingston was a disaster last weekend. i think it ended up being like half million people without power (some still have not got it back almost a week later)
It was probably the worst ice storm we have seen in 15-20 years in Eastern Ontario.
Kingston's attendance is always pretty mid it was actually pretty good on Sunday when i scouted a game there considering the city looked like a war zone driving into it with tree's and power lines down.
I just thought it was funny that everything they called out Kingston for they ended up being worse at.

Not to throw cold water on your party, but remember back to the series that they played against the Petes in the 2014 playoffs or any time you have faced the Petes in the playoffs.

The first 2 games were throw aways. They are used to grind the other team down so that the stars get sore and by the 5th game they are hearing the skates coming to hit them along the boards.

I am not saying Sudbury is doing this but do not get too wrapped up in stats or scores. The big trick is that the fronts have to stay healthy and they need to win in Sudbury. Once you have won 4 straight then you can talk about it but I agree that 4-2 is not a big score to get excited about look at the penalties they are all body penalites

You may disagree with Taylon Steel, but he only got 1 penalty so he must be doing his thing well.
Beast that fronts team wasn’t great at all. This is arguably the best one they’ve ever had or top 3 at the very latest. This fronts team maybe would sweep that other fronts team you’re talking about.

Exactly their arena was dress as a seat night or something and their announcers mess up names constantly too so what exactly are they better than Kingston at? Certainly not hockey! I got a good laugh out of us beating them at everything possible last game

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Probably a split in Sudbury. I’d love a sweep but we will see what happens. Either way fronts in 4/5. Will be a good game tonight I’m sure

I’m not sure I would go that far and say it is arguably the best Fronts team we have ever had. It may be a top 5 team, but I’m still not sure it is as good as some of the teams we have had in the past overall. A lot will rest on goaltending, which has been decent when needed this series but is still a bit unproven.

That 2014 team had Bennett as a 17 year old if memory serves me correctly. He was a monster that year along with a decent supporting cast on offence and defence. That team went 39-23. I honestly, see some similarities between those two teams and it would likely be a very close series between those teams.

All that to say, Beast’s point is you need to finish teams off and get it done before you get worn down in the series or for future series.

Going at a fanbase for attendance is always so weak. If I'm at the game, supporting my team, why should I feel bad that no one else showed up.

Felt like that all the time in Hamilton. Sure, its disappointing, but what can I do.

Brantford has been so much more passionate and fun. Which of course now means we have a lot more idiots in the stands. Can't ever win.

Hamilton always had good fans. Doesn’t help when you’re in an arena 3x the size of most arenas in the OHL

Regular season crowds there are comparable to crowds in Brantford. Whole vibe is completely different.

Same lines again tonight, Sudbury gets Delic back up front.

As much as I'd love to get to go to another game on Saturday, I'd rather they leave no doubt, finish it off tonight and get as much rest as possible ahead of the second round.

Delic hasn't had game action in 3 months, I don't expect much from him. Seems like a it's your last game in Sudbury type on situation to me.

Coaches poll was released, a few Fronts mentioned:

McGowan #2 Underrated
Burns #2 Hardest Worker, #2 Penalty Killer, #2 Defensive D
Uronen #2 Best Shot, #3 Hardest Shot
Battaglia #T3 Best Stickhandler, #2 Best Shootout shooter
Hay #3 Faceoff, #3 Defensive Forward

Back to business - it's go time.

Expected strong pushback from Sudbury but the fronts really need to dig deep and get going in these next 2 periods

I have to say the "Go Play Soccer" chants are one of the more unique chants I've heard in a while, even if it's pretty clear he just lost an edge while being pushed.

Sudbury's PK with Clayton and Henderson is playing super aggressively and it looks like Kingston is struggling to adapt. Move the puck quicker and create some space.

If they don't capitalize Sudbury won't shy away from playing on the edge because there's no consequences.

How about these refs too... Taking away 2 goals from Kingston??? Unbelievable...

No one had better need me to say it but yes the ref comment is sarcasm...

Noticed that too. PP really struggling just need a bounce to go in.

Doing the hometown team some favours!

It’s comical how much McCoy and Miedema dislike each other on the ice for 2 guys that skate together all summer long every year 😂
To be expected, no time for friendship in a game like this.
PP has been embarrassing for the Fronts, switch it up coach. 2/15 ???
#11 needs to play defense and quit rushing the puck
#8 and #88 essentially invisible in playoff hockey like I imagined they would be.
Sudbury looking like the team that will push game #5 tonight

I have no problem with how McGowan is playing.
I’d like to see more out of Willis who finally got his first point and has been completely invisible this series.

I agree.

Willis, Uronen, Pieniniemi and the powerplay have been pretty much invisible.

Switch up lines for third I hope. Change it up keep the hay, Heyes and Pickell line together as well as the 4th line
