Was out snowmobiling a couple of weekends ago with some friends I haven't seen since my early 20s. One of them let me know that a kid I coached in Bantam hockey had a son playing for the Kingston Fronts. Seems the kid and his Dad shared nick names so GO HOPPY! Seems like he is on a real tear for you guys recently hoping to see his name called high in the upcoming NHL draft. Neat fact on the team Tyler's Dad played for that I helped coach was NHL player Todd Harvey. It was Todd's last year of minor hockey as the next season he went on and played Junior B in Cambridge and then onto Major Junior in Detroit.

The goal is to win the conference and create better first round matchup. However it’s realistic the fronts may fall short with a tough schedule. Looks like Brampton will finish 5 seed . I really don’t want to finish 4th. Where do you guys think the fronts finish .

I feel bad for whoever finished 4th and has to play Brampton round 1 they could be finally putting it together. They remind me of the Petes when they were inconsistent during regular season but put it all together during the playoffs

Ideally we manage to grab 1/2/3 spot, as playing Brampton in the first round is an unsavory proposition. Realistically we will be in really tough to get 1st as not only Brantford had our number this year, but they are rolling like a machine right now. I'd like our chances more vs oshawa with our post trade acquisitions all in the line up. I think Hay brings an element of shutdown/pest centre that can help keep Sennecke/Barlow at bay a bit. A healthy Willis means you have 3 lines that can score and skate well. I think Bishop playing with Burns was giving Burns more freedom and comfort.

I agree and you never want to play a goalie like Ivankovic first round. Especially the fronts with his career stats vs us.

First game:
30/32 saved Win
Second game:
38/41 saved Win
Third game:
30/32 saved Win

That was all his rookie season.
Then this season he has only played us once but:
28/28 saved Win

Total of 133 shots and 126 saves.

Combined 0.947 across the 4 games. All 4 wins obviously.

Yeah don’t want to play him. Same with martone who seemingly lights us up every game vs us.

Tough weekend coming up - Brantford is the hottest team in the OHL and have the most unstoppable goal scorer in the league. Obviously easier said than done but you can't let Lardis beat you - I'm guessing he'll see a lot of Hay and Heyes. Goes without saying but they can't take any bad penalties either - they've had a few uncharacteristically undisciplined games over the last couple weeks - can't have that against a potent PP.

Niagara tomorrow - they've been reeling a bit but assuming Flores plays he's very much got the ability to steal a game, but if there's any game this weekend they should win, it's this one. I'm guessing Vaccari gets the start.

At Oshawa on the back-end of a 3-in-3, Kingston hasn't played Oshawa well at all this year, already early to say but we'll probably need a big game from Schenkel.

4/6 points would be a very successful weekend - they need to do whatever they can to avoid Brampton round 1 - they're catching fire at the right time.

I haven't seen an update, so someone correct me if im wrong, but Flores is out with a leg injury.

It looked awful, but apparently will be back at some point.

Looks like Soto and Bishop both back tonight. With Miedema back from suspension tomorrow, some big reinforcements for a tough stretch in the schedule
Soto joins Hopkins with Clark on the third line, and McCuiag comes out. Bishop back in with Burns, and Moore comes out for him. Schenkel starts

I hope that they put hay and Heyes on lardis the whole game. Gotta minimalize that guys chances. On a 17 game goal streak.

Thomas is great too another top guy but more of a passer. O’Brien extremely talented too and has very very high hockey IQ.

Going to be the toughest matchup for a while no doubt. Oshawa great too but nobody wants to play Brantford right now they’re on an absolute heater the whole team is gelling at the right time and Lardis is unstoppable.

Holy crap those refs were BRUTAL

Cannot believe they missed that check to the head on Hay

When that happened I thought for sure someone on Kingston would take a stupid penalty in response to that and cost them the game. They almost look like they are maturing as a team!
They did a great job boxing Brantford out and shutting Lardis down.

I agree I thought Heyes or someone would lose their temper and give the #1 PP in the league a chance

Starts at the top and works its way down. Burns has been amazing for that. Very very well disciplined I find. Constantly getting abuse from other players and even some bad calls by the refs because they remember him from last year and he takes it like a champ. Been very impressed with him being the captain this year.

Amazing job shutting down Lardis. Think they broke the streak of 17 games with 1+ goals. Thats a quarter of a season. Absolutely unheard of.

Amazing job. Assuming they win tomorrow(I’d certainly hope with no Flores) and maybe Sunday I wonder if we end up in the top 10 of the chl. Don’t believe it has happened since they put up 97 pts the one year or the Bennett years.

We also have to remember with seeding the fronts can only finish 1,3,4 or 2,3,4 depending on barrie. Barrie will win their division automatically giving them a top 2 spot. Personally I think barrie won’t finish 1st which locks them in the 2 seed. So the fronts have finish 1st 3rd or a dangerous 4th

Nice win for your boys last night. The race to not finish 4th and have Brampton in the 1st round will be fun. Good luck the rest of the way.

It is a nearly identical look as yesterday with some small changes:

Battaglia-Guindon-Uronen
Pickell-Hay-Heyes
Miedema-Hopkins-Soto
Clark-Kelly-Wright

Burns-Bishop
Pieniniemi-Uens
McGowan-Williamson

Vaccari gets the start. Buttar comes out, as Miedema returns from his 2 game suspension and joins Hopkins and Soto on the third line as Clark moves down back to the fourth line with Kelly and Wright. Same D-Core as yesterday as well
