I'm starting to wonder if I'm the problem with the slow starts... Since Schenkel arrived they've gone down 1-0 in all but two games - tonight and last Saturday vs Ottawa, which are the only 2 games I haven't watched either live or on TV.

What the hell happened with Hay - bad reffing or just undisciplined? I don't remember the last time I saw someone take 4 separate minors.

I briefly got disappointed that I wasn't watching because the OHL app had what I can only assume to be a large scrum in the third as 3 separate fights and although it would've likely meant suspensions, it would've been awesome to see an old school line brawl.

Cal Uens with 7 points in 2 games - with decent production tomorrow he'd have to be in the running for player of the week which as much as Uens is a great role guy - would've been one of the last things I ever expected to see.
This is the cal uens he was projected to be coming out of his rookie year. He has now finally surpassed his rookie year point total. He has the offensive skill just lacks the confidence to unleash his offensive potential because he cares so much about being reliable and putting the team first. I’m not saying he’s playing reckless this weekend but he’s now jumping where he used to hang back being an extra layer of protection. Really cool to see, obviously this production won’t continue but I hope he keeps playing the way he has shown he can!!!

Another bright spot as of late, is Tyler Hopkins. Man has he ever turned it on, so happy for him and it gives the Fronts more scoring options down the lineup for an incredible top 9. Also, it was really nice to see Miedema get back on the board last night after going quiet for a couple games.

Betts starts, otherwise same lines as yesterday except Clark is up on the third instead of Wright.

Hopefully Soto will be back for Barrie on Tuesdays, sounds like he's sick.

Absolutely. First ever hat trick followed by 2 goals and an assist, first star honours in Flint. Then a weak team today vs sarnia hopefully he can get a few more points. If he gets 9 that should seal it unless some player has a big outburst and gets like 7 today. 41pts in 45 games in draft year on a great team and he’s a good two way, fast player. Definitely think some team will take him in round 2 if he keeps this level of production up and ends up with 55-65pts

Also never would’ve expected this outburst from uens over the past 2 games this is about as much of a surprise as the Luka Doncic trade last night or the Jakub Chromiak 5 pt game last year. Unreal. Hope he can keep it up.

Decided to look back through their games to see if I'm just imagining slow starts or if it is actually a trend.

28 Wins - down 1-0 14 times
19 Losses - down 1-0 14 times
47 GP - down 1-0 28 times

Not great, but 60% isn't as bad as I'd have guessed, but then I focussed on the recent stretch:

Last 13 games - 11-2, down 1-0 11 times

It's obviously a great thing that they're resilient and they don't fold when being down, but it will be a lot harder to come back against teams in the playoffs.

With the offensive explosion over the past few weeks they've jumped up to 3rd in GF (210) behind Saginaw (213) and London (218). First in the East in GF, Goal differential and Second in GA. First in the league in PP, Fewest PIMs.

Tough to complain about how things are going. Massive game tomorrow night - a win would pull them even for 1st in the conference with a game in hand and give them a buffer over Brantford and Oshawa.

Individually this is far and away one of the deepest teams I can remember - they could potentially have 8 20 goal scorers, an outside shot at 3 40 goal scorers and two 50 point DMen.

It's just too bad the game vs Barrie comes when they've been on the road since last wednesday morning.
