Kingston Frontenacs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

Will gladly take a point here, in a game we had no business being in. Fronts woke up after the Schenkel pull. How important is Miedema's goal at the end of the second? This game really reminds me regardless of the outcome of the Sens comeback vs. the Leafs in 2021

Very ugly win but if they want to climb back up towards the top of the standings games like that where they play like absolute trash and still get the 2 points.

That penalty shot was an interesting call, you don't usually see them call when it's a tight area like that and based on the results I probably would've rathered the 2 minutes haha

Good to see Kelly get on the board again, seemed like a knuckler but still one Lalonde will want back.

I kinda wish Landon Wright would wear 51 but I know there's no shot that'd get the ok lol. He looked decent, had a couple shifts with the third line and I think I saw him out there with PP2 for a little bit.

Thought he had a nice game in a depth role, and nice to see him gets some looks with the top 6 as well

In fairness he only faced 6 shots
But if i'm not wrong 2 of those were breakaways, so I'm doing some hyperbole lol

If they want to have any chance against Sudbury on Sunday they're going to need to figure out what time the game actually starts. These late starts aren't gonna cut it against top half teams.

Added a bunch of guys. Willis should be back on Sunday too and they get a day to get acquainted. They’ll be fine I’m sure

They haven't even had a practice together yet. They said on the broadcast tonight that tomorrow afternoon they have a practice in the Soo before they go to Sudbury - give them some time lol.

I mentioned earlier that Barrie is 0-2 since their big additions in Romani and Van Steensel, including a loss to Peterborough. It takes time to gel. Having two wins with no practice with each other and figuring it out on the fly is great! Now just imagine what they can do with time to find chemistry!

Oh I know and I said before the trip that I wouldn't put too much stock into this weekend's results, but the issue for me for the starts is that it's not systems or mental mistakes, it seems like the slow starts are because they've come out sluggish and disengaged.

Obviously they've been able to kick themselves out of it by midway through the games which is great but ideally they give a full 60 instead of the incomplete games these last two days.

At the end of the day a wins a win and I'm not going to complain too much but it sure as hell wasn't pretty lol

Remember too, these guys are still young men/teenagers- and they lost a couple good friends. Yes it’s all part of the game blah blah blah - but from what I’ve heard Lalonde was a very popular guy in the room. A couple younger guys were close with Weir - so let’s cut them some slack for the mental mistakes Thur and Friday. Add the new mix of guys in your lineup that you have not practiced with, and the new guys having their own lives uprooted and driving from Saginaw to Kingston then bus to North Bay - lots outside rink went into the 2 bad starts

That is the reason I think Cooper made the deals as early as he did. As to Lalonde and Schenkel, I think all the travelling probably had a lot to do with it.

The axiom used to be, go north, and if you get 3 points, you have done well with all the travel and weather. You guys have 4 and will probably get your hardest test against Sudbury. The good news is you know Mews and what he can and can not do. If you can leave there iwth a point at least you have done well.

Is Battaglia really on the 3rd line? If so that will put a bur under him to improve his defence

Any idea what you are going to do with Vaccari?

Quick Question, when I was scrolling online and saw the Saginaw trades and before the eventual McNamara trade, people were discussing that McNamara was as good as gone because of the trades and had some kind of issue with players that were coming in (Hay, Willis, Bishop) or that he was a poor locker room guy. Any truth to these claims?

Even before those guys came in McNamara wasn't liked in the room. I'm not sure if it's anything he did, or if he just didn't fit in with the group. Regardless of those guys being brought in, he was getting shipped out by the deadline.
