Lol well I got sent a message saying I had a personal vendetta and I got put on ignored so I guess that's that.

The dumb thing is I think a Gibson/Allard does make a lot of sense for Kingston, especially if they also make a Bowen (or maybe Gillespie) trade and move on from Lalonde so they don't need to move on from Heyes.
Agreed. Like I said, I'd like to send mignosa as well and get Hopkins back. Mignosa will be a top oa next year and will probably recoup some picks when moved.

Gibson, allard and mignosa for Hopkins and picks...

Would be a waste to keep Hopkins and let him suffer through 2 years of a rebuild. We did the same thing with frost a couple of years ago and we were worse off from it.

If Kingston can get Gibson, Allard, and Mignosa for Hopkins and picks then it is a no brainer…. LOL

But, GLWT1.

As much as I like Gibson I don’t think it’s worth it for the fronts to trade Hopkins for Gibson and allard. Allard is great but Heyes is performing pretty well- exceptional on the PK and very very well liked in the room. (Plus I have heard a few times ludwinski isn’t off the table)

Unless it’s strictly picks or if they would take picks and Velliaris I wouldn’t do Gibson. Now throw in Mignosa and I would trade Hopkins absolutely. Maybe put Luke McNamara in a deal like this- get rid of him and we get an upgrade in Mignosa plus arguably the top defensive d man in the league. Then use remaining picks to get Romani and a guy like Wyatt Kennedy.

Adding potentially:

Ludwinski, Gibson, Mignosa, Romani, Kennedy

Subtracting:

Hopkins, Velliaris, McNamara, tons of picks

Only thing is with this we only have 2 great centres with Guindon and ludwinski, would probably need to make another trade for a third one to play line 3 as I believe Mignosa, uronen, pickell, Soto, Heyes, Battaglia, Miedema all only play wing and I wouldn’t trust Buttar line 3 come playoff time.
If Ludz was coming back, he would have already. He finally scored his first goal---but despite the lack of points he has been playing regularly, which makes me think they are planning on leaving him there.

And M.Phillips 4-5 years ago. It is not a common occurrence.

McNamara down to the 4th line with Buttar and Weir, Clark up to the 3rd with Dervin and Pickell.

I wonder if that's a sign of moves to come or just a message being sent.

Was a pretty boring game but glad they won. They definitely needed to. Brampton without 5 players due to the WJC to our 2.

Any idea how I can get ahold of the “TO” stat

Battaglia glad he got first star but holy crap I’m pretty sure he had double digit turnovers. He has to be among the league leaders for that.

Does that show on instat?

Cooper what are you doing.

Could’ve had Gillespie for just a 2nd, 3rd and conditional 5th.

Now Brampton has 2 goalies better than Kingston, as does Barrie, Oshawa has the reigning goalie of the year, London has a goalie who hasn’t lost yet and another very young and talented- another team with probably 2 better than Lalonde and vaccari, Brantford has Leenders who was one of the best goalies in the league last year, Niagara has Flores who is probably one of the best goalies this year.

What is cooper doing we should’ve absolutely went and got Gillespie for that price I have absolutely 0 faith in this deadline

A 2nd, 3rd, 5th for a sub 6’ 170 lb 19 yr old goalie with those regular season and playoff stats reeks desperation.
In 49 games last year with middling Guelph he had a 0.898 sv%

On a better team like Brampton and their trajectory for the second half of the season I would be shocked if he didn’t average atleast 0.905+ for them (as a backup mostly playing the crappier teams)

Will be back next year too and could be traded then

Guelph was in the top third of goals allowed last season. Now he goes from a team that is 19th in goals allowed to a team that is 18th. Brampton will need teams above them to sell just to reach 6th place.

There has to be an explanation for standing pat and no announcements.
I have heard some rumours on trades and I really hope a big trade materializes, otherwise something is really fishy and there is no pulling the wool over long-term fans eyes.

Middling would be 5th or 6th no?? They finished 6th place last year in the loaded west out of 10 teams- tied with 5th place Erie with 73pts.

They had the 4th fewest goals for in the league and only had a difference of -15 goal differential that would be a lot of 1 or 2 goal games. Who do you think kept them in those games? Probably the goalie that played 49 of them

Is this another Moses would be 4th line and Amidovski, Newton, Vaughan> comment where you just don’t know what you’re talking about? Believe at the last world juniors there was some talk about him (Gillespie) potentially getting a team Canada spot, same with Collin Mackenzie on Ottawa.

2nd, 3rd and a conditional 5th for a goalie who is probably in the top 10 league wide is not a bad move. The team makes 0 sense though with Ivankovic. A team with real weak goaltending like kingston with 2 probable below average goalies in Lalonde and Vaccari could’ve really used a goalie like this. Now Brampton has 2 goalies better than the fronts #1 Lalonde.

I’ve heard rumours all year and the only one that actually came true was Guindon. I’ll believe we’re in buy mode when cooper makes a big deal or two in the coming days hopefully. Can’t do anymore 1 foot in the door, 1 foot out crap anymore.

#88 had 2 hits this game, I never notice him play physical but it was good to see more compete.
#29 had a more impactful game, much more urgency
#10 scored his first, good for that kid - looks like he belongs in this league right now

This was a must win game, nothing more needs to be said

Really wish Dervin wasn't just here for a game here and there when his St. Andrew's schedule allows. Really entertaining player out there and Mann seems to trust him a lot already. I think it's gonna be pretty fun to watch him full time next year.

The St Andrews first hockey schedule should be completed in time for OHL playoffs.

Guelph was about as risk adverse as teams play last season.
Brampton essentially had 2-OA spots open for a half season. That over pay does not make a lot of sense as a stand alone deal. Maybe it makes the steelheads the front runner for Luchanko.

The Steelheads will do something. They don’t need scoring. They need help on the back end and LEADERSHIP. Once everyone is back and healthy, they will score. But, they cannot play pond hockey to do it. They need some structure and leadership to keep their game tight. Richmond needs to be more forceful in his approach. Unfortunately, with all the injuries, it is hard to sit guys when they aren’t following the program.

Look for Richmond to start to raise the hammer on these guys when they are back. He will start to discipline the players more closely and if they can find a couple players to run the room, it will make it a lot easier.

They got both of those things in the pipe whenever the deal gets announced, D and leadership, assuming whatever had delayed it gets sorted out. Been done for awhile I think.

The steelheads do not need scoring, I agree; they need a little defense from the prolific scoring forwards. Kingston, Oshawa, and Sudbury are >0.600 with two good defensemen; 25+ minutes of Luchanko would go a long way towards fixing the steelheads defensive deficiencies imo. Injury is just a convenient excuse for a team that has blown 3rd period leads all season long with and without all of its' personnel with three different goalies.

You cannot deny that the volume of long term injuries that team has had has had a negative effect in the standings. But, you can also say what you are saying with respect to the way they are playing. Both can be true at the same time.

This is why I stated they don’t need scoring. They need leadership and they have to score without playing pond hockey.

Richmond should be the right coach for that team when you look at its deficiencies. He should be able to coach that out of them. His specialty is defence. He is capable of coaching defence and responsibility into their game. With a healthy team and excess bodies, he can properly punish players as well. It is tough to sit guys out when they aren’t’ following the program when five guys are already out of the lineup.

We disagree about Leskovar. I believe (assuming he is going to return soon) that he proved that scary D-Man they need and he is their leader. I liken him to Spearing. However, I don’t disagree that they could do better with that OA slot. Depending on the player they could acquire, maybe it makes sense. Would it make sense when they bring in K.Smith to delete Leskovar instead of Lefebvre? Maybe replace both Leskovar and Lefebvre? Possible.

I agree Luchanko is the prize for them if they acquire a forward but they don’t have an ‘08. I don’t think they can make that move. I don’t think they have the right pieces to do it. But, if Parker Vaughn and Brady smith are in fact refusing to waive their NT clauses, that lessens the number of potential ‘08s which shrinks the market and makes a Luchanko to Brampton more viable.
