Just the upper half behind the benches is vip. The lower half from rows 1-9 is regular seating. I know because I sit in one of those sections

And it is not like you need to institute a full range of options. A lot of times it starts with one sponsor that wants to be truly involved. Hell, try to have Queens University as a sponsor and give them two or three full sections that they sell on campus. You can do it as part of a charity etc.
What I do know is when a rink is full or close to full it creates a sense of urgency to purchase tickets. So, even if the fronts were giving away three sections and offsetting it with a sponsorship deal, adding more butts in the seats increases concession sales, adds to the atmosphere at the games and everyone benefits.

They were charging upwards of 5000 a year for a sponsor a few years ago. No sure what it is now.
Honestly they should just give away 500-1000 tickets every game. If they’re worried about prices wouldn’t it make sense for the college and university kids to come to the game and buy the overpriced beer and food? They’d easily make their money from the concession and wouldn’t lose any profit anyways as we never sell out so giving free tickets or half priced tickets would make perfect sense. Also since we’re down town and people still whine about that it’s convenient because queens is too.
Only thing is with giving away free or half priced tickets all the old buggers would whine about that too.

Hypothetical promotion. One season. Queens University in conjunction with “X” Charity sponsors a section of the arena. Let’s say three full sections. The cost of Sponsorship is $100k for the season. The Frontenacs get the $100k and Queens University gets three sections of tickets for every game. Queens sells those tickets, recoups their $100k and the remainder goes to the charity.
The Frontenacs find a way to colour code that sections, add the signage etc and make it look good.
The Charity gets a Private box for the season. One of the Frontenac players in a leadership role lends their time post game to head up to the box for a meet and great for autographs etc. The team promotes the charity through their Social Media. Win-Win-Win all around.
This is not rocket science marketing and promotion.
The games were sold out in the second round that year. I’m not sure that is entirely true.
We have this discussion twice a year as to why. The owner ran the team into the ground and the team didn’t win a playoff round for 18 years. They also haven’t even made the OHL finals in 50 years. Until they actual win in the playoffs people won’t care.

I know but they only have 2 divisional banners through 50 years. They’re currently in first a quarter of the way in the season. So far this is statistically one of the best starts they’ve ever had. You’d think they would be able to attract 2777 ( but looked less than 2000) on a Friday night

3800 was a common number for attendance from the trade deadline to the end of the season. It was >4000 just a few times, I think. The corners surrounding Helvig would be virtually empty.
The attendance for the Queens-RMC game may have broken fire codes.
It’s just a terrible place to play your OHL career ask 90% of the players that have played there. Players don’t get the treatment & real ohl experience in Kingston it’s unfortunate
That’s fair. My bad. I only went to game 6 and it was sold out and loud. But, if they win in the playoffs people will eventually go.
But, they REALLY need to make the finals or even win the league at some point to get these fans back. Fronts fans have seen good regular season teams many times but little playoff success.
The team has had many seasons with teams in first place at some point. This is nothing new. Having only two divisional banners for all those teams that have been in first explains why the fans aren’t there.
That number doesn’t seem terrible. Not for a time that had not won a playoff round in 18 years until the year prior. The Knights didn’t draw well either when they were losing.
Pretty sure most teams did not draw well at the time London was historically bad.
1980-83 & 1989-91 were awful recessions for Canada. Idk for sure, but suspect attendance was down for the better part of ~15 years and junior hockey comparatively weak ~1990-2000.

Less than now for sure, but for context the Fronts were getting as many fans (with average teams) as the Knights were getting while the Knights were losing for those three years or so. My point is that continually losing will kill fan bases.
I attended games ~‘88, ‘89 where there could not have been 800 in attendance in London and Sudbury.
Total BS statement. Sure there have been some, just like Ottawa but having dealt and known players here most like being in Kingston.
Should you not be getting ready to count shots up there in Kingston ? It’s almost game time “scout”
I can’t speak for Sudbury but I recall London getting pretty good crowds around the Jason Allison years in London (i.e., Gary Agnew years).
Then when the new owner came in, changed the arena name to Ice House (lol!) and put an eggplant coloured Spiderman on the front of their once (and now!) legendary green, gold and black jersey, along with having a horrible in ice product, fans got turned off and found other things to do.
After three awful seasons, the team started putting together an OHL product on the ice that won some playoff games and the fans evertually forgave them.
This team had almost two decades of not seeing the team win a single playoff round. Many people over the years turned in their season tickets. The Mem Centre used to rock for playoffs games, and even the “new” arena drew well for big regular season games (such as the Bulls) in their early years. But, unless the team has a huge playoff run and starts making those drop-off fans start feeling like they are missing out, like a finals appearance would, they likely aren’t coming back. Just too much damage done.
I’m sure anybody on this board feels bad for the Gennies
Hopefully, the Fronts take advantage.
