I’d personally like to pay for a guy like ride who may not be as good but kind of plays the same way- top 4 and would be back next year. That’s why I think ride would be awesome. Would be more expensive for 2 years but they’d make it back next year anyways when they shop him.
Ride went for a back up goalie, 2 3s, 2 4s and a 9 last year - value-wise that's right along the linked of what I was thinking of them giving up. Something like Velliaris, 2 3s and a 4.

They'd still have a ton of picks left to make moves up front and upgrade Heyes if they decide to go down that route.

I think North bay would consider that. Velliaris although he isn’t great right now- was drafted as a big project d man and next year I could see a big breakout(and he would still only be 18)

I would then trade Heyes, a 2nd, 2 3rds and a 4th for swick and call it a day unless they could get mews(which I’d give up whatever Ottawa would be asking for except Hopkins obviously) and then trade him the following deadline for either a ton of picks (restock cupboard completely) or a 16 year old and a few picks. Mews should be a top 3 d man in league next year and get a look at team Canada. We already know he is open to playing here with Battaglia. I think they could get this done

The only issue with adding both Mews and Ride is the question of who sits (I'm not sure if I see them sitting Uens), although thinking about it I wouldn't be surprised if they went to 11/7 in that hypothetical, keep Clark/Buttar for the occasional shift here and there with someone else.

Kingston doesn’t have the pieces for Mews. I am 100% certain Boyd will not move Mews for picks only. He will need a good prospect and Kingston doesn’t have one they can afford to move because it subtracts from the competitive roster.

I think getting an impact 19 year old or an OA D-Man is more likely if primarily using picks.

If a Mews to Kingston move were possible, it would likely have been in the Frasca deal.

Yeah I think it'll be tough to get a deal done, but then again, if you told me before the year that neither Rehkopf or Barlow would get an '08 I probably wouldn't believe it.

Obviously very different situations with Mews being an '06, but between the other trades, the NCAA ruling and how well/bad some teams are doing it seems like a year where enaything could happen.
