I think Musty is a no-go for a lot of teams. the price and the attitude will make it hard to sell, and Sudbury is showing they really do not care what he does. To me, that is a good thing. Sudbury is winning the battle because Grier is putting the screws to the agent to get something done. My personal preference is Peterborough.

As to Mews he might be an interesting partner for either Pie or Burns. It would definitely give you a strong back end on the PP.

What would a Vaccari and Weir, plus a couple of picks, look like as a trade? I know @OMG67 is going to scream, but it might help Ottawa in the short term, as well as giving them a young RW to slot in.
I think the deal the Petes made for Ryan Merkley is a comparable deal for Henry Mewswhich. The deal was Pavel Gogolov plus a 2nd, a 3rd, a cond. 2nd, a cond. 3rd and a cond. 4th. For Merkley I am sure what the conditions were. That trade was a disaster for the Petes.

I hate when players whine about being traded and are rewarded for the whine by trading to a contending team. Sending him to a last-place team sends a message not only to him and his agent but also to others thinking about it.
I get what you’re saying beast and I’d think it’s hilarious banishing him to Peterborough for the year however that’s not very professional from the front office and it’s their job to get the best return possible while also working with Mustys agent on whatever teams musty would be willing to go to.

Tonight was a real measuring stick game. Gens at full strength and fronts too. No excuses- the fronts are a long ways away from being able to compete with Oshawa. Brantford will be way better too with their 2 import d and whatever else they add. Brampton and Barrie are both going to be better than us and they’re both likely not done adding.

I’d like to be an optimist but I try to tell it like it is and the truth is fronts should do a light sell because they’re not competing this year

Musty is a 1st overall OHL pick. He’s a 1st round NHL pick. He scored over 40 goals and 100 points last year. Sudbury, although playing well right now, may not be the right spot for Musty. Players request trades all the time. I dont’ see any issue with what Musty is doing. I’m not a fan of sitting out to wait for a trade but that is a small issue overall. Musty is a top player and will command a huge return. He is more impactful as a current OHL player than Barlow IMO. The trade return Sudbury will receive will reflect that.

Sudbury management needs to take their time and wait for the right deal.

The catch for Musty and where he has hurt himself is that he didnot report to Sudbury and play. This is not only hurting his development but it is also hurting the perception tht SJS and Grier have of him and his agent. It is going to be interesting to see what happens; I have a feeling he is not going to get the team he wants but the team that Sudbury gets the best offer from. His agent is getting heat from Grier to get him back on the ice.

Yeah, I know what you are saying and agree, but it is still nice to dream that a GM would have the testicular fortitude to pull the trade. You can be guaranteed that the Petes are not on his wish list. He would have been a great deadline acquisition had he come back and let them know he wanted out and played his assets off. Now he sists at home without the phone ringing and possibly missses the WJC

Well that sucked. The only positive thing you can say about that game is that the 4th line looked solid when playing on the 3rd.

I've said enough about the Burns/Sandhu hit so I'm not gonna regurgitate but Jesus Christ that was awful.

Lalonde should've been pulled earlier strictly to spare him from the brutal defense all game long.

Obviously it's only one game but it didn't look like there was enough they could add that would put them on Oshawa level.

I want to keep spewing but there's not much else to be said. They sucked, plain and simple.

Musty has a full no trade clause as a first round pick. He will dictate where he goes without question.

He may have the clause but his agent and he are caught between two big immovable objects
Sudbury not interested in trading unless they get the deal they want
SJS and Grier are telling his agent to get off the pot and get playing.

This is going to be an interesting play. Remember, Wright did not get his choice either. I think Sudbury knows where they are and that they are sitting with the angels right now, so they are not going to do anything to help him unless it benefits the team. No trade clauses are good if you can back it up right now he is sitting at home playing hockey with his 3 friends Me Myself and I.

Beast they don’t ask for just 1 team. The players give 3-5 teams that player would be willing to go to (usually contenders) and the gm tries to get the best deal possible with those 3-5 teams.

From what I heard. Windsor, London, Ottawa were for sure 3. Not sure about if there was others but I’d imagine there was more for wright

Musty is probably the same- has 3-5

If I were to guess I’d say kingston, Barrie, Oshawa, London and Erie would make the most sense

Ottawa wouldn’t move Mews in the Wright deal. I wasn’t keen on it either to be honest but I was keen on Boyd adding one more piece that year for depth. As it turned out, going over the top like the Petes did was the right move and if Ottawa had moved Mews, we wouldn’t have been in the toilet like the Petes are now either.

No offence, but I can not see Kingston as a landing spot. I think that he is looking at contenders, and for the Fronts to even consider it, they would have to give up major pieces that would set them back.

I think Erie is the most likely spot, but the question remains: What will these teams offer? I think Sudbury may be slowly dealing until they know for sure what they are doing this year. Right now they can make the argument they are contenders, but by Christmas, once Brampton and Barrie figure out their games, they could quickly become a mid-card in a slow retool. If that is the case, then the plans they would want and picks might be different. I consider him an early deadline rental as I do not see him back next year.

Can Burns score the hat trick of Fighting - Instigated Upon in the 3rd period?
His face couldn't handle another one after Torrance (2nd career fight?) beat him pretty good in the 1st. Burns can be a good player but man he gets pissy and plays out of control when his team is getting their teeth kicked in

If you were doing a mild sell this year who would you be offering?
Burns, Miedema for sure maybe McNamara as well.

No point in trading Guindon imo as they just picked him up and he loves it here and has been a big part of our team. Don’t think we would get as much as we paid back for him so no point in doing that trade

I don't know what you were watching but that fight was shit.
Looked like 2 12 year olds hugging.
Each player landed 1 shot and Burns got cut by his visor lol.

Had really hoped they would be a contender this year but pointless wasted trades last year and failure to pull the trigger this year seems to have put us in a bad spot. There is no way this team contends next year either, even with a sell. We have ten19-year-olds including both Euros. This was supposed to be the year.

As for a sale, I couldn't agree more with you on those three to start and we don't often agree on here. Lol. Move Burns while he still has this mythological hype about him. i don't get it at all at this point. I love his passion but he is very overrated in my opinion. He's not offensive, he's not defensive as portrayed/advertised and takes meaningless penalties at terrible times. The other two just move them already. I could type three pages right now. So frustrating for STH's.

completely agree. I think burns can be a good top 4 d on a championship level team for defence but for instance in overtime can’t put him on he is horrible offensively. I’d rather have on Pieniniemi, McGowan 100x over him- arguably Williamson too for that as he has mote offensive prowess.

It’s surprising for me that burns has 9 assists. I haven’t counted how many are secondary but I’ve hardly noticed him in the offensive end.

Miedema it’s a contract year he has to do well otherwise he’s not getting that contract- where was this the last 2 years? He would have a great week and then suck for a month.

If they’re doing a light sell I’d rather Buttar play in the top 9 consistently so he can develop for the inevitable shit show next year when we lose half the team and he won’t play those minutes consistently with Guindon, Hopkins and McNamara all ahead of him. Plus he probably plays again in the O next year and they could get more for a 2 year player rather than a 1- just makes sense to trade him now. Could be a top 6 player on a decent team. Potentially a top line player on Peterborough.
