Really don’t think Wakely will be going to either Kingston or Oshawa, I think you will find him in a London jersey by the time he gets moved and he will be moved now that NB announced their captain. I just don’t think he gets moved early, also it’s going to be about 15 games or so before some teams can do a real good evaluation, not by the 2nd game of the season. As for Heyes getting the “A” obviously Mann feels he’s a leadership guy and is important to the room, over looking him would be nonsensical. With so many players leaving, pretty much their whole leadership group except Burns was left, it’s pretty important to have quality guys at the helm to start the season off right.
North bay told him to go home and wait for a trade

Imagine you upgrade from Torrence to wakely? That would do wonders for your team. No offence to Torrence either he’s probably an average-above average OA this year but Wakely is the crème of the crop. If roobroeck does come back though at some point you may not need to move anyone.

definitely played like it last night but yeah obviously osters spot is safe and always has been.

There’s no question that Wakely is far superior to Torrance.

The issue is opportunity cost. Use the assets to acquire a 19yr old and still be able to keep Torrance while bumping a 4th liner into the press box.

Would you rather have Wakely and Shawn Costello or Anthony Romani and Torrance? The latter would give Oshawa much better depth.

You aren’t looking at it fromt he perspective of giving you the best chance to win a Championship. You are looking at it from the perspective of easies t and cheapest path. The cheapest/easiest path is rarely the winner.

IMO, Oshawa needs a repalcement for the role Punnett played last year. They also need a 2C to take advantage of their top end forward talent.

If it is strictly a draft pick trade, Romani will likely cost a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th more than Wakely. You can use the Rehkopf and Morrison deals as the comparables. That likely makes it more difficult to get the D-Man you need without giving more players and less draft picks.

Oshawa has four 2nds, four 3rds, and five 4ths. It is likely they get Walkely for two 2nds, two 3rds, and two 4ths. That aligns with the Morrison deal. Then they can add the same picks package and one young player for a key D-Man like Amidovski or Gibson. After that, the Gens are done with respect to covering off key positions (assuming Roobroeck returns).

Depends on how you believe a championship team should be constructed.

Load up two powerful lines and have a bunch of scrubs to fill out the bottom two lines or have three very good lines that are all capable of scoring any time they’re on the ice?

Having Ritchie/Roobroeck/Griffin/Delisle down the middle is about as good as it gets in junior hockey.

In the event that Roobroeck somehow sticks in the AHL this year, bumping Griffin up to the second line and Delisle on the 3rd line is still very strong.

Oshawa needs a middle six winger more than they need a #2 centre man.

Watch the 67’s teams in championship contention from 1996 through to today and then look at the teams they lost to in EVERY one of those Finals appearances and I think you will have your answer.

When things start getting tougher the deeper you go into the playoffs, the more difficult it is to break through strong defences and goaltenders. Having the most elite top 6 beats the above average top 9 teams pretty much every time.

D’Amato is a top four defenseman who anchors the Generals power play, so there’s little to no chance of Wakely taking his spot.
I keep seeing you say this and can't understand why as he's never been the PP1 QB..

Last season Marrelli (PP1 QB) had 27 PP points. D'Amato (PP2) had 16 (with 0 goals).

And then fast forward to this season, the Gens are missing their 4 best offensive players and he's still not on PP1

I'm a D'Amato fan but he's really struggled so far this season. Game 1 he gets turnstiled by Battaglia on a 1-on-1 with a minute left in a 1 goal game to give him a breakaway, Oster just bailed him out. Then last night still no idea what he was thinking when instead of stepping out on O'Brien, he just backs off and lets him into the slot where he easily scores with all the space he was given. 0 points, -3 rating. He needs to be a lot better, especially in his own end, if he is going to be an OA on this team this year

They've got 2 better imports in Uronen and Pieniniemi, he's still technically on the roster but if they can't find a trade partner by the time the 2 week windows expires they'll likely just release him.
He should just return home and play. Which he'll end up doing.

Wolves were forced to trade him (similar situation)and they made our quite well with that deal

I really wanted to come on here and rant, but I will refrain seeing that the entire team has only had one true practice together. But that was still a disappointing weekend.

Absolutely

Against the Petes they won like they should have.

Outplayed the generals but oster was amazing.

Outplayed Niagara and Flores was amazing- and HUGE Mental lapse late in the 3rd. Giving up 2 quick goals to Kevin He blowing the game.

Should’ve been 3/3 but only went 1/3

They need these points early more than other teams.

Oshawa without their 4 best players

Brantford has an injury to Vanacker

Now is the time the fronts have to be real good

Troy usually does not show his frustration to the media.
Yesterday after the game it was more then obvious how upset he was with the effort level yesterday.

They had a team function planned for Weds and he has canceled it citing the need to fix details in their game over having some fun.
It's nice to see a coach holding his players accountable.

Did anyone see the empty netter Pieniniemi just completely gave up on yesterday?

I saw that and someone else pointed it out to me as well and now you mention about pie.

Yeah that was pretty bad I think he could’ve maybe saved it.

Also good for Troy. I like that a lot.

People have been all over the need to improve the 2nd and 3rd pairings. I was not impressed at all with the "supposed" top two playing together at all on that first pairing. They need to be split up and not to make the other pairings better. More to get them apart from each other...

Pienemini is too non-chalant out there and I know Burns has prob been told to tone it down but will be effective at all if not playing on the edge every shift. It looked like not this weekend.

I don't think the team is generating offense as predicted is more so the issue.
Battaglia may have one of the nicest pair of mitts in the league but he also doesn't finish on a lot of those nasty moves he makes to the net.

I really think they also need to use Miedemas stature in front of the net more to create a screen. -He has the size to make it really difficult on goalies to see around

Yea there has been a few to many breakaways and odd man rushes but i feel like they are still wearing off some of the summer rust.
Vellaris is not ready to play in this league. and Uens is barely good enough to be here.
Mcgowan has been impressive so far imo and Williamson still has a lot to learn.

IMO getting another proven D is critical for this team right now.
Bringing in Wakely would be nice too as it will reduce Mcnamara's minutes.
This weekend shows how far this team really is still from being a top team in the east imo.

When the Icedogs trade Flores you should go for him instead facing him again.
Why would they bring in a 4th overager and 2nd OA goalie?
That would make zero sense!

You're owner probably already has him listed on Craigs List for a subway platter.
