Kingston Frontenacs 2023-24 Season Thread (Part 3)

So now technically you have 4 imports LOL

going to be interesting to see what they do.

I agree Hemstrom is gone adn would not surprise me to see Chromiak gone and they draft an import D to replace him in case Kingston does nto get any pie in the sky

Soto has really gone down hill over the last 2 years.

IMO trade him in off season before the big fish start going. He cannot be back next year. Absolutely 0 effort.

Battaglia with 86 points and 39 goals so far.

Believe I made a pre season prediction he gets 80-90 pts and 40+ goals.

Hoping some of our guys like Battaglia and Hopkins have a big playoff run.

We know Willis will be a rockstar in the playoffs and Hay and Heyes will be nonstop workaholics going against the hardest lines nightly. I’m hoping to see one of McGowan and or Williamson contribute nightly on the back end. We know burns will bring his A game, same with Pieniniemi(who hopefully shores up on the defensive side of the puck)

Could be a long playoff run. Dont think any of the 4 or 5 top east teams are head and shoulders better than the next one. Brantford and Barrie are the 2 best overall in my opinion. Brampton is the big darkhorse and Oshawa is our worst matchup.

First round we likely play Brampton/Sudbury in the 3 or 4 spot. 2nd round(hopefully we make it this far LOL) we would likely be playing Barrie in the 3 and Brantford in the 4. I think I’d almost rather have Barrie. Brantford has been real hot lately and so has Leenders. Great defence and some real heavy firepower up front. Still not over that 10-1 game our worst game of the season IMO either that or the 10-6 game vs Sudbury but atleast with that game we had a bunch of people sick.

I hope this site absolutely shitting the bed doesn't get rid of some of the engagement we've had on here. There was quite a few newer accounts on here that idk if they were made before March 2024.

Awesome game, took care of business like they needed to, late Christmas present from Ottawa over Oshawa is an awesome bonus.

Definitely looking like Sudbury or Brampton, will be a very interesting last 2 weeks of the year to say the list.

Was Guindon hurt or was this a rest - I get a rest day at this point of the year and against who they were playing, but it hurts losing the ironman streak.

2 points up on the gens and Sennecke got a slewfooting match penalty so hopefully he’s out for a few games. May be too tough to catch Brantford. We probably would need to win the rest of our games including the one vs them. Also would need atleast a game if not 2 where Brantford loses and they’re playing great hockey right now (minus vs London)

That Sennecke major might get overturned.
Not sure he gets the 2 games for that one.

That was a horrible penalty call. I can see the trip but from my perspective, that was him skating through the back of the leg. I didn’t notice any additional upper body leverage at all. The way they have been calling slew-foot penalties the last two seasons is mind boggling. Very liberal interpretation of the rule IMO.

Fronts can finish no better than 92 points. Brantford has 3 games left and sit at 89 points.

The tie-breaker is sort of interesting for the two teams. If Kingston and Brantford end up tied at 92 points, we need to assume based on the ROW that they will both have 40 Regulation OT Wins. But, that means Kingston will need to run the schedule and NOT have a shootout win. If they both have 40 ROW’s (or 39 each?), then it goes to the head to head. If Kingston needs to run the schedule to get to 92 points then Kingston would win the 2nd tie-breaker UNLESS Kingston wins in OT giving brantford the loser point. If that happens, then they would be tied in ROW AND head to head. The 3rd tie-breaker is goal differential. Brantford currently has a 5 goal lead in goal differential.

So, all this is to say that Kingston probably needs to run their schedule. By doing so, they prevent Brantford winning one of their remaining three which means they have to hope Brantford does not get more than one win in their remaining two games. If it goes to a tie-breaker, it looks likely that Brantford would win that tie-breaker. The issue is Brantford plays the 67’s at home the last game of the season. I don’t see Brantford losing that game. So, it looks like that game vs Brampton on Wednesday will either give Kingston a chance heading into the last weekend or if Brantford wins that game, the final weekend may not be all that meaningful.

He was sick

Gritty win today.
67s wouldn't lay down and played well even being down a few players.

I'm not sure about the Fronts coach....
People on TV wouldn't have seen this but Troy Mann was chirping Ottawa players and Dave Cameron was pissed and had to be removed by a linesman.

If you remember last year, coach Mann was suspended for talking crap against players.
This guy's ego is off the charts

That’s not the whole story on Mann. It was Mayich being a suck after the game. Mann told his guys to get off the ice, and told Mayich essentially just “back off and get away” in more colourful ways. Cameron followed Mann down the tunnel and was swearing and insulting Mann when Mann said “nice job with the world junior team you hack”

This is a case of 1 team fighting for first and another fighting to survive. A coach is on the way up and one that knows he is on the way down. That was always a worry in that tunnel.

HOWEVER, now on to more important things

FRIDAY NIGHT IS HUGE.

If Brantford and Oshawa win, they lock up first and third place is decided on Sunday.

This is the weekend more so than the playoffs that the Fronts should be PRing the crap out of the city. Radio, the Whig anything and everything to promote Fridays and Sunday.

This will allow everyone to see how good this team is and push playoff tickets.

Unfortunately, I do not see that happening on the PR side. I may be wrong.
