At what point in this season did they ever look like a team that could win the east? If you thought that then I don’t think you should be in charge of a hockey club.
The east was wide open as everyone knows this season.
There was no clear cut favorites in the east.
I personally didn't think their goaltending was good enough to get them far but obviously someone there has high hopes for Vaccari.

Heard last night after the game from some people that I feel have some inside knowledge that Mann is going to be GM and Cooper gassed. Anyone see any truth or possibility to this?

Would not surprise me. If they want to keep Mann around for a few years, probably would have to add more than coach to his title. I like Cooper but not addressing the goaltending situation and not trading Ludwinski, in my opinion, were headscratchers.

Troy's passion is coaching.
That is 100% just arena gossip.
He will be the first to tell you he has a lot to learn about this league.

I don’t see how you don’t gas him after this year. Basically everything he did was wrong. Any one of his moves by itself were pretty bad, total them up and he has to go.

I’d like to see Kingston with a capable goalie who actually gives them a chance. Given north bay has been out Romani and Divincentis now for 2 games I think Kingston could of stole this series with above average goaltending.

Win as a team, lose as a team, but an honest question. Of the 16 teams that made the playoffs, what other team would Vacarri be the starting goalie on? I'll wait...
Vaccari isn’t great but it doesn’t help when uens is turning over the phck in the defensive zone all night. first period wasn’t his fault at all. Uens and Williamson really sold that.

He’s moving up to gm? Or going to be both coach and gm?

I don’t think cooper is bad but this year is a big let down and he’s the one making the moves. Can’t put Mann as the fall guy as he came in 10 games in I believe.

Personally I wouldn't give that GM rumour a 1% chance.
This is a Temp. landing spot for your coach, he will be up and gone when a better opportunity presents itself.

North bay Regular Season last 3 years:
2021-2022 = 43 Wins
2022-2023 = 48 wins
2023-2024 = 39 Wins

Frontenacs Regular Season last 3 years:
2021-2022 = 41 Wins
2022-2023 = 27 wins
2023-2024 = 33 Wins

I think this series has played out like people thought, last night the real NB team showed up and that was without their top scorer or regular starting goalie.

Thibideau dad wouldn't have had a good night last night. Happy for poole and heyes to be contributing, Burns shows flashes

I look around the league and i do not see any better options from teams who wanted to move a goalie.. Maybe missed out on Charlie Robertson from NB. other than that i dont think there was a sure fire upgrade in the net they could have got.

Yeah I think their number one priority will be getting some BIG, good defencemen for depth. No offence to guys like uens but they’re not playing on a championship team EVER unless they improve LOTS. Big thing for uens imo is since he’s a smaller guy he needs to 1 get his weight up 15-20 lbs and 2 he needs to become faster while doing so. 3 is work on decision making as he is the current turnover king. If he does that I can maybe see him sticking around next year in a depth role. But against a big team like north bay I’ve really seen him get pushed around lots. Look at Ty Nelson for instance. Small guy but solid as a rock and a BOMB of a shot.

And if that’s their goal they have to make those hard decisions.

A close second is getting a good import goalie. Which according to the ohl guy that created a thread about the import ban being lifted- there’s not a better time to go and snag a great russian netminder. If vaccari has to play behind him, then he has to play behind him, but personally I think if they split the games that would be optimal. Can’t have any more of this near 60 game BS for one goalie unless you’re Dominik Hasek lol.

Finally 3rd thing I’m addressing is getting the OA situation sorted out. As we all know Poole and Heyes although they’re great 19 year old role players- they’re not going to come into next year and put up 30 goals and a ppg season leading the team like most OA’s. They should be swapping them out for big upgrades sometime between the summer and next years trade deadline.

They may not go for much but I’m sure there would be some interest on a rebuilding teams 2nd/3rd line. Both are great for defence, leadership, and killing penalties. Heyes is way faster and better with puck skills but poole is more solid and consistently over 50% in the dot.

Arnsby got 6 games. Ohl got that one right. 4 probably because of the outcome and how he already hit hemstrom earlier in the series and then the extra 2 because he’s a repeat offender. Been suspended before I believe. Just how the guy plays.

Glad to see it! He clearly was going after Hemstrom by targeting him twice. I didn’t see the first one as I was watching the puck and they don’t show replays in NB. Clearly it was cheap since the puck was nowhere near him. The second one seems pretty clear he tried to take off his head.

Oh absolutely. What’s the odds he takes out the same player twice with cheap shots? Clearly something going on there

At about the 1 min. mark of Per. 1, Game 2, Linus Hemstrom and Jacob Therrien collided near the NB blueline. I believe the collision might have been accidental, but Hemstrom got his stick and gloves up in time to nail Therrien in the head/face area and flattened him. No call. I suspect this is what Arnsby was reacting to.

That’s unfortunate that happened but that’s on the refs for not calling that. Or the head coach can voice his opinion. It’s not a players job to go around hitting people in the head regardless of if you’re captain or not. Lots of stuff goes on in games that goes missed.

2 times in 4 games on the same player seems personal

Looked at Liam Arnsbys ohl penalties

Fought three times against kingston alone

1 5 min major checking from behind (Pete’s)

4 5 min major checking to the head (2 on sauga, 2 on kingston)

1 5 min major blindsiding (sarnia)

Just included 5 min majors that were called excluding fights from other teams.

For anyone wondering about if they got the right call with the suspension. I think his long history shows he clearly deserves the 6.

Thanks for the info. I saw the hit and Therrien go down but didn’t know who hit him (again no replay in the rink). Interesting as I was wondering what the beef was with Hemstrom who is hardly a troublemaker (a mere 18 penalty minutes on the season), nor the Fronts top player (Ludwinski).

It’s kind of funny that Arnsby almost got more penalty minutes (and in a way you could argue he did with the game misconducts and suspension) going after Hemstrom, then Hemstrom has gotten all season.

Therrien was running around all night too there was a few questionable hits from him that i recall from Weds night.
I think OHL got it right with the 6 games. At the end of the day you can't have players out there head hunting and need to protect the players.
If a player is in a vulnerable position you need to let up a bit and make sure you avoid head contact its pretty simple.
Arnbys is a player that plays on the edge and this time it got him.

Agree, clearly Hemstrom is completely unaware of his surroundings.
Arnsby attempts to finish all checks hard; Hemstrom made himself vulnerable twice, at least.

This is such a ridiculous take.
Hemmy is trying to pick up a puck that's bouncing and hits another players skate and redirected and ends up between his legs behind him. -When he reaches he gets trucked in the head.

Do you know how many times Mcgowan could have ended NB players in the neutral zone and hits them square in the chest instead? -This is a player that plays the game with respect for his opponents but isn't afraid to drop the gloves if he can find a willing opponent. -I think Therrien has ran from him 4 different times so far this series.

I like McGowan. His strength for weight is impressive. But he plays on the edge, more-so than Arnsby. Arnsby completes a lot more hits because he is faster and has better anticipation/on-ice awareness.
