Weal's potential bonuses apparently put him over the limit.

LW David Van der Gulik is the call up. 13 pts in 48 NHL games (sporadic callus over a period of years)
Van der Gulik, 31, was signed by the Kings as a free agent in July. He has 48 games of NHL experience, mostly with the Colorado Avalanche organization. His first NHL stop was with the Calgary Flames. He is scheduled to join the Kings in Pittsburgh on Thursday morning.

David Van Der Hosen better send a thank you card to the NHL and NHLPA. Their mishandling of the Voynov situation is the only reason he's up here and not someone else.

And that's not meant as any offense to Van Der Bilt, but someone like Weal should really be up here. It's getting sadly comical how often LA is getting screwed for something they had no hand in doing.

Wow, what are you smoking?? The Voynov situation is being handled correctly and would've happened to any of the other teams. If we weren't so close to the cap to begin with, it would not be such a big deal. Price of being a championship team.

I don't give a flying rats ass if every other team would be in the same boat, it's wrong. Period. No team should be punished like this for what their player elected to do, or is alleged to have done, away from the ice with no team involvement whatsoever.

Well, that's the price we pay when a dumbass decides to beat the **** out of his wife and drag her body off an elevator in front of a camera.

Was the Varlamov handled correct or mishandled?

I don't mind the suspension on Voynov but they could give the Kings some relief given they had to skate 19 players the other day. Never mind the double standard it set by doing nothing with Varlamov. I was watching TSN the other night and just about everyone on the panel agreed that the Kings should not have had to play 19 players. If there exceptions for LTIR, there should be exceptions for legal issues. Both are beyond the control of the team.

The Cup is ours!

Oh wait, the Cup is already ours.

Win the next one for VDG!!

 This doesn't get old.

I agree. Well-said. But if we weren't so close to the cap, we probably would no longer be such a championship-caliber team. Kudos to Dean and Jeff (and players signing friendly deals) for keeping the team together. Besides, we're panicking over a one or two game call-up in October? The Columbus Blue Jackets, now they are the ones who have something to get anxious about.

Yep, and that's the point. We (the Kings) are paying for something completely out of our control. BTE said it right, why is there exemptions for LTIR but not for something like this? I agreed with the NHL at first but the NHL and NHLPA have done nothing to off-set the damage to the Kings.

Where they handled it correctly to begin with it has now been 11 days And could go on for another 31 at least. And the league has made it sound like they won't just reinstate him even if no charges are filed.

At this point the PA is the one holding things up because according to DL they can't agree how to handle escrow with him being paid but not allowed to play. And this is where the problem is. If he was injured he would be on LTIR and we would have relief.

It takes two to not agree. This is an issue on escrow that both the NHLPA and the NHL can't agree on.
