They are stop gaps. Yes Danault is too long but he will be easy to trade in year 3 if he’s still shutting stars down and putting up 30-40 points. Neither deal hurt the long term goal.

Danault is not a stop gap, he is an impact player.

Edler is a stop gap, but they needed that in that spot.

At 2 years I was kind of meh, but now that its confirmed to be a 1 year I like it a lot more. Another veteran presence, but this time its on the blue line. A guy who can take Even strength and PK pressure off of Bjornfot and Anderson who can also be sort of a mentor to those 2 I think is extremely valuable. Also anything to not have Maatta play is a plus for me.
