Makes me wonder that management / coaching staff not all excited about those on the cusp?
Like: Walker, Roy, MacDermid, Brikley, Ryan... ? just speculating, but if these players were looking great, I think Hutton is not signed. And may have some to do with Ladue and Forbort out.

  • this review is 4 years old, but at least some info:::::
  • An offensive two-way defenceman who oozes both tenacity and instinct-driven talent. Excellent four-way skating ability and can pivot on a hairline. Very unselfish player who realizes where the puck should be and whose stick it should be on in all situations; that being said, he is not afraid to carry it himself. Strong understanding of the game exhibited through his ability to play in all situations and keep the puck moving either up-ice or to teammates with more time and space. Displays very good decision making with the puck on his stick and has the creativity to facilitate dangerous scoring opportunities. Is not phased by the physical side of the game and allows the pace of play to direct his compete level. All-in-all, a highly-skilled two-way defenceman who is adept at playing multiple roles in a game due to his natural aptitude for both the offensive and defensive side of hockey. This signing tells me Forbort is probably out for some time and they need someone to partner up with Drew Doughty.
oh yeah i forgot forbort was out

really stinks they're c***b***ck macdermid again if forbort's anywhere near coming back

Nick Nickson just mentioned that Doughty, Martinez and Forbort are the only Veteran d-man with any significant NHL experience. Didn't realize we are really that thin at the blue line. My goodness we are in big big trouble sheesh. So Hutton is more then welcomed.

Very underrated player, would rather him at 2m than Jordie Benn who replaced him.

With the right deployment I think he'll earn a bigger contract with you guys next year.

Just an edit here, but he has been stapled to Gudbranson for the last two seasons and even Edler looked confused when he was with Gudbranson. When Edler and Tanev were out after Gudbranson was traded Hutton was playing 27-30 minutes a night with Stetcher as a top pairing and looked fine until he clearly ran out of gas.

I like it, especially with Forbort out. But he shouldn't be skating next to Doughty. It's sort of an Alec Martinez situation--excellent in 2nd-3rd pairing roles, fish out of water in 1st. At least he's an excellent skater and teams won't just be able to pick on him by throwing a hand grenade puck at his feet.

I’ve never forgot him coming on to his sisters msn account and telling me he was a better hockey player than me after watching our team practice. He was 11 and I was 16. I guess he was right. Good replacement for Forbort.. for now.
