Game 26: Kings vs. Sharks - 3/14/13 - 4-3 loss, Time to re-tool and get back on track

Defense needs to be better. Quick has to be sharper, and the Kings need to maintain their energy levels throughout the game, can't fall back on their heels with the defense we have. I have a feeling a couple deals are on the horizon soon. Trade deadline in three weeks, hopefully we improve before the deals are made at least.

I will never blame Muzzin for standing up for a teammate, but damn it sucks that they had to pay for it with two goals against on that PP and the loss of the game. Moral victory, I suppose.

I would.

Smart and disciplined hockey wins games and championships. I'm sure Muzz scored some points with Richards and some of the other kings, but that kind of irresponsible hockey caused us the game.

And the last time I checked, moral victories don't help you in the standings or win you the cup.

This type of play will get them into the playoffs but they won't win anything after that. They need a defensive defenseman. The Kings are getting no reports on Mitchell and Greene being back any time soon and while it's possible they come back before the playoffs, they can't be sure.

If they want any chance to repeat, they need to fill that hole. I feel like I'm watching Flyers hockey right now. The offense has been charged with scoring 4+ a game.

People can blame the goalies all they want but the defense has a job to do in front of them, and right now, they are not fulfilling their end of the bargain.

Kings forecheck is terrible yet they keep going with dump and chase...Penner is useless in the top 6.

We did lose because of Muzzin's penalties, but I'm not going to be regretful over it. Glad he fought that fight.

Today is Pi day, so I'll drown this loss in a big chunk of peach pie. Revenge game Saturday, lets hope for a better game by Quick and the defense.

I don't get this team sometimes. Its always a mystery to me.

Quick needs to be better. Plain and simple. Can't fault JB on his goal, crap defense leads to a 2 on none.

I think Quick is getting into his own head at this point. That's not good for any goalie.

Quick needs to be better. Defense needs to be a hell of a lot better. I really hope Dean does something really soon.

If they play like they did in the first and third periods and the brain dead version of Doughty doesn't show up, this team could beat the Sharks on Saturday. Clean up your act in the defensive zone and pull your heads out your ***** and redeem yourselves on Saturday.

vomit vomit vomit barf barf defense. Doesn't this time have any pride in their identity?

Oh well. Need to forget about these last two games. Hit reset.

It's kind of sad but I pretty much circle every Sharks game on the calendar and put a big 'L' next to it. Whether they deserve it or get divine (or ******, Clowe) intervention, they've got our number.

This too little too late is getting a little too old.

The Kings had a good start, but then lost their focus when their good work didn't result in and early lead. Gotta play all 60 minutes, they got spoiled getting away with a few 3rd period comebacks.

Then IMO you're checking in the wrong places, like league standings and game box scores. I believe that in the long run, they can. Moral victories in losses can result in better team unity and chemistry, and that CAN help you in the standings AND win a Stanley Cup. See: 2011/12 LA Kings.

It's obvious! Quick's fighting it! After the second goal he let in he kind of let crap go to his head and he quickly gave up yet another goal. He looks surprised, frustrated, and confused after that one.

Add that our defense is young and inexperienced with Doughty trying to play superman, and struggling at that, is not helping our GAA at all. Greener and Mitchie have the strength, experience with spacing, and one-on-one craftiness to defending the net. Remember last year those two gobbled up bad rebounds and it was one and done for the opposition for the majority of every game. You can't ask Martinez, Voynov, Muzzin, or even Drewiskie and Ellerby to be that.

Muzzin did what he is suppose to do. It was a must for the PK to kill it!

It was a clean hit!

What are we going to do, get a penalty for going after everyone that lays a clean hit?

Meh, a win in regulation with their game in hand and LA is in 4th place. Not so bad. Been a frusterating last couple of games, but it's not the end of the world.

But this is not the Quick we are used to seeing over the past 3 years. I'm open to placing him on IR the next few weeks, let him heal that back up or whatever. Cause this is not his usual self.

This team will be fine, but let's hope that the 48 game schedule gives them enough time to sort this stuff out (I think they will be fine, but let's start figuring this **** out now).
