Oilers would love Danault, it would be a luxury to have a guy that can play 2nd line center when we run McDrai.

The Kings are a solid team that can make playoffs and maybe even surprise a team and win a round but they aren't winning a cup with Dallas/Oiles/Avs/Jets in the conference and their window is going to close sooner rather than later as Kopi and Doughty can't go on forever.

People always scoff at these kind of suggestions because selling off every vet for draft picks and prospects is what you do every 5 years in a video game cause you're bored but in this instance it makes sense for LA IMO.

Kempe, Danault, Fiala, and Gavrikov are genuinely very valuable pieces that can each return a 1st + prospect.

Sell them off, let Doughty and Kopi ride off into the sunset in LA if they so choose or trade them cheaply to their desired destination if they want another crack at it and build around Byfield, Clarke, and your new boatloads of picks and prospects.

What good is being a playoff bubble team for 2 more years?

Gavrikov seems like the only guy to move this early and only at the deadline if you aren’t planning on-resigning him.

The market for him at the deadline would be massive. He’s stepped up big after an uneven year last season and with Doughty out, he’s out there 25 minutes a night and like any good prototypical Russian defender, he can play both sides. He’s also smack in his prime and not simply some stay at home oaf. That is an elite level TDL rental for any team and should extract a very high-end price. Definitely a 1st+ kind of rental.

Man I am shocked to find that Danault is trying to be shipped out by Kings fans with 3 years (including this one) left on his contract.

Who ever could have seen this happening?
Only becouse he has value

I’m quitting on eight years of inept management and three straight first-round exits to our biggest rivals with zero accountability
Just plain ol weak

The Winnipeg Jets will take Gabe Vilardi off your hands for a fist full of magic beans.

Oh wait.....never mind....
King's got a cup winning goalie out of the deal. Does wpg have a cup winning goalie? :naughty:

All jokes asides, Vilardi needs a new contract. With cap going up & buying UFA years does wpg sign him for around 8 million for term & risk him getting injured constantly, or do they bridge him to UFA?

Has Vilardi, "Winnipeg isn't that bad" had anymore amusing quotes since the trade?

Edit: Forgot Vilardi complained to the media about getting worked over by Lizotte.

Why would a team sitting 8th overall have a fire sale?

Gavrikov- looking for a 1st 2025 and a prospect

Danault- looking for a first in 2026

Fiala- Looking for a 1st 2026 and RHD prospect. (Isn’t that ironic)

Kings fans are weird. You think this is a Rob Blake thing, as if the management of another club that is in the middle of the standings (or better in this case) would liquidate their roster. That is not a thing that happens anywhere.
Does not happen anywhere, other than Hf.
Where at any moment if you're team is not knocking on Lord Stanley's door, the fans rather tear it all down in hopes of discovering golden nuggets. All fans need worry about are bulletin board gossip

We know this team is a black hole team not a contender. We can’t beat the good teams. We don’t care about making the playoffs we want to win the cup. This is not a cup contending team. Too many holes that can’t be plugged with the parts we have available.

The Edmonton Oilers could use Gavrikov to play on the right side. I certainly hope Bowman & Co. would be willing to part with a 1st and a prospect to get him. Some salary would have to move back the other way for the Oilers to remain cap compliant, but this doesn't have to be a cap dump per se.

Edmonton needs to strengthen their defense if they want to win it all. IHMO.

Would a Fiala for Cozens as the base trade blocks work. I will admit I don’t know what Buffalo is looking for? A big young right shot offensive forward that can skate and take care of the defensive end is something the Kings badly need

LA should have traded Matt Roy for some picks last year; they did not. I do not see any change in philosophy of the management here. At this time last year Kings were steamrolling and most agreed they were the team to beat in the league.

Blake absolutely will not trade anyone if the team has any hope to enter the playoffs. His job relies on it.

A real shame. Gavrikov, Kempe, Daneault could fetch some great pieces back. The team will go facing Edmonton for a 4 game sweep and nobody will be surprised.
