Not for Halak obviously but just out of curiosity would LA entertain trading Carter? I would think they'd want to keep him.

To be honest right now no I can't see us trading carter However at the deadline and we re out of it and a great offer comes la s way I could see us entertaining it. However it would have to include a younger 2 c who plays 200 foot game as part of the trade ++

Probably something involving a swap of nonproductive players, hoping a change in atmosphere will get them going.......

Kings have....

Nolan
King

....as guys who haven't done anything yet this year.....

Who do the Isles have?

Tavares, Nelson, Hamonic, Leddy, Halak for Kopitar, Doughty, Carter, Budaj, a 2nd and a 2025 7th

Tavares >= Kopitar
Harmonic <<< Doughty
Nelson << Carter
Halak > Budaj
Leddy >> 2nd, 7th

3 of the top 4 players are on the Kings, not a good trade for them

This is awful for LA and no way in hell would we deal our top 3 players let alone in a single trade. Kopitar and Tavares are close but the rest of that package doesn't get you close to Carter/Doughty. Big time fail.

Why not just offer a 2094 6th while you're at it?

Tavares is not better than Kopitar.

you guys can't be this dumb to not understand he's joking

i know it's a montreal style proposal and i understand there's some truth behind his humor

it's still a joke though

This.......I really can't see them being interested in 2 years of Halak at 4.5.

What if Isles took back the mammoth of a contract that is Dustin Brown?

Something like Halak + kulemin + 3rd 2017 for Brown + toffoli

Isles buy out brown when Tavares is UFA

Yeah, when these sources say multi-player, I'm inclined to believe it's multi-crap.

Toffoli, as such, likely isn't going anywhere.

I think it'll be something like Halak (4.5) for King ($1.95M), Greene ($2.5M) and a draft choice. It's a virtual straight swap in terms of salary with the only real benefit to NYI being the pick and the removal of a locker room malcontent.

I would strongly consider this, mainly because of how good I think Tyler Toffoli is. Buying out Brown in 2018 would have cap hits of:

2018-19: $1,958,333
2019-20: $1,958,333
2020-21: $3,458,333
2021-22: $3,458,333
2022-23: $1,583,333
2023-24: $1,583,333
2024-25: $1,583,333
2025-26: $1,583,333

Or they can wait till the next lockout and probably get an amnesty buyout.

Tyler Toffoli is exactly who we need, and I would think is a great fit on a line with Tavares.

I could get behind that, If isles send barzal back to Seattle or in trade with either de Haan or Hickey plus whatever pick for a legit 2C like J. Staal or Hanzal.

Can't see us trading for Halak unless Quick was done for the year, I would think DL would have more interest in Berube

not unless your taking back 50% halak contract He still has another year and a massive 4.5 million. La is not paying a backup that much money period. We have toffoli and pearson to resign.

Halak would likely be claimed by Las Vegas. I don't think that going into next season with him on the payroll is really a concern. Even if Las Vegas were to pass on him, he's good enough that someone will be willing to take him off of LA's hands for free, if need be, if not in the offseason, then during the preseason, after someone goes down to injury or struggles.

I'd do that in an instant

I would as well, but we're Isles fans so I think I undersold toffoli too much. change the 3rd to a 2nd, possibly even both picks if we get a replacement pick back also. Some condition like swap 2nds if Isles pick is better the LA if not then swap 3rds.

Greene has another year pending regardless, so they'd still be on the hook for $2.5M of that. They'll also need to replace King if they don't re-sign him.

You're correct in that LA will need to free up money to resign their key RFAs, but Halak wouldn't be the impediment there- think, oh, I don't know... Dustin Brown, maybe?

brown has 5 points in 11 games and is playing well I would not include toffoli to rid us of brown Most i would do is a 1st even then something decent will be coming back
