Sounds like it and it sucks but I'd rather he get his health in check. He got to call not 1 but 2 cups! Something I always wanted for him....

Definitely sounds like retirement. They never had a big conference for anything else with Bob. :( Poor guy. The stroke must have been the last straw health wise for keeping the broadcasting going.

Bob has earned retirement. Announcing games for 8 - 10 months a year has to be harder than we think.

Good Luck, Bob!!!

(and Kings: win the Cup for Bob this year, huh?! ok, get in the playoffs first...)

If it is retirement:

Thank you Bob, for everything.

You've been a consistent voice in my life since 89 and the framer of my Kings memories.

Wish you all the best!

Hopefully he'll ease in to retirement by just doing home games. Losing Vin and Bob in the span of 12 months would just suck :\.

Ralph Strangis, come on down!

If it is retirement, thank you Bob for being the soundtrack to my formative years as a hockey fan. I was lucky to have Vin, Chick, and Bob growing up.

The good news will be if he's concentrating on his health. He's given everything to the Kings and he has earned retirement if that's what he needs be healthy. If he decides to step away, hopefully the Kings can keep him on for special assignments. He's incredible at telling stories.

If it is retirement, perfect backdrop to a possible management/coaching shakeup this off-season depending how the rest of this season goes.

The true closing of the end of the Kings golden era.

I don't watch Dodgers games, but I'll echo the sentiments regarding Chick and Bob. There's a picture in a box somewhere of me at age 10 kneeling in front of Chick's star on the Walk of the Fame. Those of us growing up in the LA area have been very lucky to listen to these guys.

Yeah can't imagine it's anything but retirement. But my goodness what a legendary career. Would fit right in with other potential org changes after the 50th anniversary year.

Makes me think of my grandpa Fred (RIP) watching the Kings/Lakers/Dodgers after hockey practice in Norwalk. LA fans should be very thankful to have listened to 3 incredible commentators and even better human beings. You will be missed Bob!

Yeah, this sounds like the end. I'm really going to miss Bob, but hopefully he has a long and healthy retirement

If it is the end. It'd be nice (if he healthy enough) to do the last home come of the year (4/8 vs Chicago). So there can a proper send off for him both on tv and at Staples Center.

If this is true,I like to thank Bob for sharing with me the decades of knowledge and companion for a sport as you did since I was a lil kid in 82.There was no one else I rather hear call a Kings game then you sir.Even today, it's like somethings always missing and doesn't feel the same when you are not calling the Kings games. You were always a professional and classy. You'll be missed and always cherished in our families hearts.

Yeah it's really not the same. As good as Ralph is, it makes it feel like a "not-home" telecast. Bob is irreplaceable in that regard, just like Chick and Vin.

We've been spoiled.

An end to an era :(

When things were rough throughout the many years of watching Kings hockey, the one constant we had to look forward to was Bob Miller's voice.

I hope he gets a classy send off just as we witnessed with Vin Scully.

Had a chance to meet Bob a few years back in Buffalo the morning after the Kings had played in the hotel we are staying at. He took the time to chit chat with myself and my wife and seemed genuinely more interested to hear about what I did, why I was a Kings fan, etc.

He shared a few good stories with us while we sat in the lobby. A truly great person.

You guys and gals were lucky to have him call Kings games for all those years. One of the best in the business. I could listen to Bob read the back of a cereal box and I would be engaged.

Wishing Bob Miller good health all the best in his future endeavours. Tip of the cap to you. :yo:

Its gotta be retirement, his health is definitely more important than calling games. Rough year for the whole franchise, on and off the ice.

My friend and I ran into Bob Miller at a bar restaurant durning the summer of 2015, we asked for a photo with him and he gladly said yes but as we were walking away he called us back and had us take photos with his Stanley cup ring...obviously really cool of him to do that. Thanks Bob

I hope I'm not speculating too much but my grandmother had a small stroke at the end of last year, and as was mentioned with Bob one of her symptoms was small problems with her speach. That hasn't gone away now several months later, and something similar may be going on with Bob that makes calling one last game not really an option. Hope Bob is feeling well overall and is able to properly enjoy the retirement (if that is indeed the case) he has most definitely earned.

Bob is one of the nicest people in the business. Very approachable and always a great conversation.

He's been the greatest ambassador for the Kings, and hope he enjoys retirement with his wife.
