Kings Acquire Andrei Kuzmenko from Philadelphia

Arvidsson is 5’10, and Kuzmenko is 5’11.

That one inch makes a big difference.

Me, and I stand by it.

And yet, everyone in the league, believes/says different.....let me think on this,

On one hand, we have you (and others) internet posters, who presumably aren't at team functions, practices, locker rooms, but watch from the seats or TVs and are fully invested.....who think Kopitar provides no leadership

On the other hand, we have teammates, opposing players, opposing coaches, opposing staff, who interact with him in the lockeroom, on the ice, in team functions, saying he does...

This a tough one.....but, think I'm gonna go with option B on this one....

Are you sure? Option A comes with a free toaster.

Maybe it's the highlight-video effect, but he doesn't look like a terrible skater. The stats say he doesn't have high-end burst speed, but that's not the same at all. His puck-handling looks high-end as does his wrist shot. Lots of scoring from the goal-mouth and slot.
Its really baffling how people can say he is a terrible skater. When I watched him in Vancouver, he was not slow.

I think the people saying that only watch highlights of McDavid and Matthews and play video games.

There isn't a player on this team that seems to make decisions and execute plays faster than Kuzmenko.

He’s not fast in straight-line speed (see his NHL Edge tracking data below) but he has exceptional edge work and has quick acceleration over short distances.

Yeah he doesn't have high end speed but he's one of the most agile skaters ive ever seen, and he gets up to top speed in like 4 strides so he's long gone by the time 'faster' players can catch him

The KuzMONSTER's issue isn't skating.

It's consistency / keeping the magic going from one year to the next.

There's a clear pattern with Kuzmenko. He joins a team, he lights it up, then the following season comes around and he looks like a completely different player and struggles to get his production going again.

Kuzmenko needs to find a way to break out of this cycle.

Would absolutely love if he's able to do that with the Kings. He has the skill to be a 30 goal, 60+ point player in this league.

I think what works so well with him on the Kings is we are absolutely loaded with boring two way guys...by playing with Kopitar and Kempe he doesn't even have to touch the puck until the offensive zone where he can work his magic.

I guarantee if he was having to do lots of heavy lifting transporting the puck end to end and checking in the defensive zone we'd see more of his warts but he fits like a glove here right now too.

I'm under no delusion that he's a PPG player that's suddenly figured it out, he's more likely a 50-60 point guy like Arvidsson when all is said and done which means relative inconsistency, but he at least brings a totally unique element, production or not

So... he's Toad from Mario Kart?

Nailed it

My first hockey coach told me that no one can outskate the puck. Moving it out of the zone quickly is more valuable than being fast on your feet.
Yup. I like to say the only thing faster than the puck is the brain, but similar sentiment.

There is such a thing as having detrimental skating - because without the puck, you can only think so far ahead to get involved. But I just don't think it's at that level for Kuzmenko. But it is something that's limiting on a player like Moverare.
