Vote for your top prospect and nominate who you want to see added to the poll list of options. Don't forget to nominate a prospect to add!

I will not be using HF's standards for prospects, rather I'll count players as prospects who haven't played a full year in the NHL and appear to not be a slam dunk for a roster spot next year.

#1 Adrian Kempe (55.42% of votes)
#2 Valentin Zykov (54.55% of votes)
#3 Nick Shore (33.87% of votes)
#4 Jordan Weal (58.49% of votes)
#5 Derek Forbort (54.17% of votes)
#6 Michael Mersch (55.56% of votes)
#7 Alex Lintuniemi (22.92% of votes)

Colour me really baffled at the Lintuniemi love. Meh.

Sure, with 22.9%. Lots of love.

Really, from 7 down are just "guys". Maybe they play in the NHL, maybe not. You can switch the next 13 players on the list with each other and you'd be "right" no matter how they're ranked. The rest are stepping up a level and need to show signs of separation from other lesser "guys". IMHO

I agree with you, 100%. The beauty is, that the Kings Dev staff and great AHL coaching are making these players reach their potential and exceed most expectations
of everyone. So, at least a few of these 'guys' will become players.

At #7 and barely winning that round, I wouldn't call it 'love.' That said, the guy has a lot of raw talent and I certainly felt he made a lot of progress this year. I see him a #3 guy potentially. I wasn't really pumped about the pick at the time but he's improved and looks like he's on the right track. Good size and skates above average for a guy that size in my opinion, though I have seen others who think his skating is weak, so maybe I'm off on that. He does need to add some nasty to his game though for sure.

Either way we don't have a deep pool of talent as is so when beyond the top five you likely could literally roll the dice and still come up with just as accurate of a ranking of guys as we will produce here in all honesty. We'll look back on this in five years and likely have some chuckles.

Yeah 22% isn't that impressive. I just don't see why he's in this range at all TBH. I am not all that excited about him. He doesn't do much impressively, I don't see enough skill to translate that well. I think he'll be a bottom pairing at very best but probably a career AHLer. Guys like Cernak and Bartosak do have that skill, while even guys like Brodzinski, Gravel, Dergachyov, Mistele, even Watson have better top end potential or are more proven.

Oh and btw add Spencer Watson.

I am chuckling!

He did used to be more talkative before he left us for the meth coast (not inferring anything about PJB at all). I am hoping to read more now that he is making his way back west. Smaht guy that PJB.

Thanks! I moved from LA to Denver in 2006...and last August, moved to Florida.
Talk about drugs! Crazy place. I moved back to Denver 2 months ago and staying.
My original PJB login was saved on my laptop...it fried and I tried guessing the pw for a few months and gave up and created PJB 2.
I could not retrieve the pw, because the email I set it up with, was hacked and defunct.
I lost my legacy of 1000's of posts.
I go to the King games at pepsi ctr and used to see Shore play at DU. Could get seats
by the glass for $28. Would always go when St Cloud was here, as I could see Dowd, Gravel and Brodzinski. Good times.

I miss Tonelli's Ghost. Think he retired from the game and from here. Am sure he keeps up with the Kings. The game is in his blood and so are the Kings. Cool stories he had...worked for the Isles during their 80's dynasty. Ast trainer or something like that.

In fairness, Nolan, Vey, Gravel and Berube were all either drafted that year or the year before.

A 2nd rounder one year ago for a team that has a pretty weak talent pool, not a shock at all he's at the 7/8 range. That said, I trust your opinion a lot so here's hoping you are dead wrong for once.

Muzzin is a laugher. Toffoli, wow. But again, a 2nd rounder that had some issues. Maybe Lintuniemi is the defensive version? :sarcasm:

Also, wouldn't call Gravel and Berube notable omissions since neither has even sniffed the NHL yet five years later.

Miss TG too. Hope all is well, found it odd he decided to walk away from the forum at the same time as he walked away from the game. Come on back TG!

I've been wrong before and will be again haha. Could be. We'll see. I just am not a real big fan of the guy. If I made my list he would probably be down in 15 range at best.

I only included Gravel and Berube as notable exceptions just as an fyi.

I dunno I mean what's not to like?

He has really good size. Is an excellent skater has a little bit of salt in his game and is a very positionally sound defenseman. I think he is a great prospect and will turn out being a better all around D than Forbort who I also like. To each their own and time will have to tell. He could use a little bit of zing but considering where he is from and the style of hockey he was raised playing I see allot of very good pop to his game.
