Yeah Kuznetsov is BEYOND a false equivalency in this case.

That being said both Porkins AND Kubalik showed they'd come over. What happened after?

Getting pretty sick of you complaining about the Kings' drafting, someone else showing their work on why you're wrong, then you going back at it while ignoring offers to look at it in different ways, all with no evidence presented of your own. Either start supporting your opinion with evidence or stop spamming threads with this, please.

The **** are you talking about? I've been saying repeatedly that they don't have an eye for talent, that being top six talent. I'm not talking defense or role players. It's not my fault that your reading comprehension is poor.

And what ******** data has proven me wrong? The same stupid advanced stats you used to put McNabb on a pedestal?

I didn't have trouble reading at all. You've been presented with a list of players over and over and over ad nauseum yet you try to derail damn near every thread on this forum with drafting rants that are barely tangential to the subject. Feel free to take it to the roster discussion thread or a prospect thread as this is a Kubalik thread. Stay on topic.

He is still Kings property, he may not even want to play in NA or for the Kings. No one knows at this point, except Kubalik/Kings.

According to Czech media, LA offered Kubalik a contract. He is tearing up the Czech Extraleague at the moment. 15 goals and 7 assists in 17 games.
Kubalik wants a one-way contract. In the past, Kings have not been willing to offer that. Do you have a link to the Czech media report that can be translated, or if you can, can you roughly translate it for us? Thanks.

If the likes of Andreoff can get a one-way contract, I don't see why Kubalik can't.

Plus, it is unlikely he gets some kind of astronomical deal. If he proves that he can't perform at this level, the Kings can simply send him down, or Kubalik can simply return to the Czech Republic.

I have more confidence now that they could bring him over, as opposed to the previous regime, led by a GM who called the back-to-back champions the "flavor of the month."

"wanna come over to NA and give it a shot? You'll be able to understand what the coach is saying now"

It's great to see the team looking at all options to make themselves better.

When's the last time a player went from a lowly league like the Czech league directly to the NHL with success?

It's worth a try, but the level of competition this guy will be facing in the NHL is nothing like he's ever faced before.

Futa just said though that was not the Kings philosophy on these type of players in Europe (wanting to come over with a one-way deal). He praised Fantenberg for signing a two-way even though he was confident Fantenberg was an NHL player, but the Kings wanted that protection in case he needed some fine tuning. He mentioned the money a player like Vadim Shipachoyov was demanding and as an example of something the Kings would not do (and he said this before Shipachoyov was sent to the minors, where he is making 4.5 million). He said Kubalik and Prokhorkin wanted one-way deals, and the Kings were opposed to that, and seem to still be based upon those statements. It's easy to throw around other people's money, but when you are running a business with a substantial payroll, you don't want to add to those woes, especially when the team is missing out on playoff revenues, essentially except for a few games, the last three consecutive years.

It's a pretty messy situation. Kubalik was supposed to play in KHL this year but the UFA club had too many foreigners so they had to cancel the contract. Then he signed with Ambri-Piotta in Switzerland but again, they have had too many foreigners so they sent him to Plzen.

It seems Kubalik wants to try the NHL but it depends on Ambri-Piotta, they have to agree. LA offered to send a player from AHL instead of Kubalik but that really doesn't solve anything since the player wouldn't be able to play anyway and the NHL does not have a contract in place with swiss league about severance pay in such cases (his agent said that if you wonder about the source).

I don't think Kubalik will survive in the NHL but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work out, he can always go back. I will inform you if anything new comes up.

Jan Rutta came over to Chicago this offseason and he seems to be fine playing in the NHL. Don't get me wrong the Extraliga has seen better days but imo it's still on par with NLA/Liiga in terms of overall hockey quality.

I did some searching and found Tomas Hertl went directly from the Czech League to the NHL.

Just to clearify a bit the situation about Ambrì Piotta: in Switzerland you can play only with 4 foreigners, but you can have up to 8 of them signed. Ambrì-Piotta is a small team and couldn't afford 5 foreigners, so they loaned Kubalik to Plzen with the option to recall him if one of the 4 foreigners that actually play for Ambrì-Piotta get injured.
It would be really interesting for them to have a player from AHL (better a center...) loaned for the rest of the season (so they can use him whenever they want, not only if one of the 4 regulars get injured), but paid from the Kings, but I don't know if this is legally possible.

Kubalik's contract with Ambrì-Piotta has an out-clause for the NHL and KHL, but is valid only as of the next season, not for this one. Moreover going in NA now would mean missing the Olympics and that could be a problem.

PS: I'm sorry if there ane mistakes in my text, English is not my mother tongue

Thanks Pickle Rick.

In the next days he is going to meet with Ambrì's GM Paolo Duca, probably to discuss about the offer he has from the Kings and his future with Ambrì-Piotta. We will know more soon!

Great information..... THANKS!!!!

I wonder if the dude will capitulate & take a two-way deal? I also wonder what sort of impact he'd make in Ontario. Very interesting......

Do the european prospects realize how close Ontario is to LA and that the Reign have schedule provisions which make travel less of an issue?

If Kubalik were to sign with an NHL team (be it Kings or elsewhere, despite Kings claiming they still own his rights the CBA has no provisions that could have them still holding his rights) he would be subject to the ELC system at this point. Which means that it would have to be a two-way deal. This is straight from CBA, Kubalik cannot negotiate to get a one-way deal. He would have to wait past age 25 to be able to not be subject to the ELC system.

Maybe that's Prokhorkin's strategy? To stay in the KHL so long that he has to get a one-way deal when he eventually comes over?! Great information, Thanks!!!
