Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll get the noise cancelling headset and get there early and hit some spots around the arena and get the button since he puts those on his backpack to show where he's been. We're gonna be in section 103, row 3. I took him ice skating last night and he loved it. Took him to the gift shop and he grabbed his first real hockey stick and was like..I want one. I laughed and told him he had to learn how to skate first. He actually did pretty well, but learned pretty quickly, ice is no joke. So I'm just layering little experiences before the game so he can appreciate how hard and fast paced it is.

Down the road, I'll take him to the nosebleeds but not yet. He likes to shoot his mouth off too and I have plenty of photos of him going off on the opposing fans at Dodgers Giants game from his first BB game. Standing on top of bleachers calling the opposing team overpaid talent and a bunch of losers. Of course I was egging him on but didn't realize I was not only creating a monster, but he already was one. He trash talks all the Dads at school who are into baseball and they do it back to him so they have fun together. He came back and did it at school and other 1st graders didn't understand and I finally got that under control. He's way competitive and I love that but I have to temper it a bit for youth sports, kids classes etc. But it's fun to watch. He might be nose bleed kid but I'll let that slide for a few years before I put him up there with his people :)

On top of that, it's just so cool to be able to see your kid go through this. He has no idea what's coming and being able to watch him actually love the same team I do is more than amazing since I've been following since the mid 80s. My brother is going to and right after he was born, he told. me...Dude, you're not taking him to his first game without me, don't even think of it. So my bro is coming too.

Thanks Peeps. Great advice and I'll let you all know how it goes. If you feel like adding more, please do.

How'd it go @Papa Mocha 15 ?

You know that this also means that Drew is undefeated at NHL games and you and Drew now have to go to every Kings game! ;)
Oh, the game is in April 10 vs Canucks. We're watching the replay in the 2nd period right now from today and he's screaming at me from the toilet to put it on pause since he's going number 2.

Edit: And now he just walked out with his drawers down and put it on pause himself and said Thanks! on his way back in LOL

The world needs more Drews.

I hope it all goes well and Drew becomes a life long fan.

I remember my first ever game. It was against the Oilers at The Forum in 1995. A 3-3 tie. It was the day Barry Melrose was fired.

I'm taking my GF to her first ever game on Tuesday. Also against the Oilers. We'll be in section 111. I just hope it's a good game. If it's not, I worry it could turn her off to hockey. I'm a bit nervous about it with the way the Kings have been playing recently.

Any suggestions for fun/interesting things to do in or around Crypto before the game? I'm going to have a few hours to kill before the game starts.

I might just do that next time.

We ended up walking around to a few different places and hanging around before the game.

I was disappointed her first game turned out to be a dud, but she seemed to enjoy it anyways.

On side note, the whole experience has ratcheted up my hatred of the Oilers even more. Prior to this, the last game I attended was the 8-2 loss in the playoffs last year, also against the Oilers. I'm sick of these guys. Also sick of seeing McDavid jersey's all over the place.

I've been wanting to check this place out but I no longer work in DTLA.

Yes that was us. My kid went bezerk when he saw the Jumbotron, I wasn’t sure if they got the sign cause Drew was jumping so much but we heard the crowd cheering so I figured it did. Some guy took a few photos and airdropped them to me.

Overall, great game for a first game. We sat behind the glass, row 3, but that's the first row behind the bench. Row 1 and 2 is VIP box between the glass. It was on the Vancouver side.

Doughty did see the sign and looked at us during warm ups. We made a giant sign but they took it away and said there is a place to make signs which we hurriedly did.

Doughty saw it during warm ups it and I pointed to it, He skated our way for a second and he said "they don't let us take pictures". He was nice about it, it seems they just don't let the players do that. My brother thought he also offered a puck, but I missed that. I quickly looked around and realized that that none of the players were taking pics before so I guess that's a thing. Kids were everywhere in the sea of warmups but it was understandable. Still would like to get one with him while he's a kid so I'll figure it out somehow. I did get something between plays that I'll have to play with. He skated to the bench and hung out there for a bit looking in our direction so I had Drew stand in front of the camera and him in the background. Close as I got.
Lizotte saw it at the end of the game and came over and gave a thumbs up.

Overall, what a blast. My kid climbed the glass, with a bit of help, during the 1st fight and was hitting it pretty hard. He tried starting a Bruce there it is chant and the Vancouver fans were loving it in our section as they love BB and hate the billionaire owner.

But overall, the night was awesome. Loaded him up on sugar, chips, hot dogs from Dirty Dog. Jumbotron.

Cool things to know. They have TVs on the ground so they can watch offsides for replays. Smelling salts are a thing. We asked for one from the Vancouver trainer when he started to get tired before dinner and the Canucks trainer burst out laughing.

I got Drew to lean over and take a picture of them writing up the plays. They would try to hold it to the vest but if they're writing it's easy.

Got to see the players come on and off the ice between plays, especially after hits to see who was hurt and who wasn't.
Gotta see Kempe fight which wasn't on the bingo card.
By 2nd period, Vancouver was getting frustrated you can see it when they skated off the ice. Some of the players were sucking wind. Vancouver fans were murmuring about it.
Gallard from Vancouver was nice, he kept looking at my kid who knew how to sing Oh Canada and the National anthem but wearing a Kings shirt.
Got on the Jumbotron as noted before. Can't wait to watch a replay of the game to see if we're in the stands.
In the bathroom between periods and I called out "Drew, stay close" as he was ahead of me and making his way to the sink and the guys in the bathroom quickly put two and two together and started cheering for him, which I thought was funny.

My kid got to dance in the background during the post game show for a bit which was sort of funny. Bought him a puck and a small stick.

It was a legendary night. Couldn't ask for much more. He fell asleep on the way home. We'll figure out how to get the pick later but just a fun first game and wouldn't trade that for the anything. When he was born, the first thing my brother, who I played street hockey with back in the 80s, came over and said, "don't even think of going to his first game without me". So he got to go too. This was largely a bucket list item for us and glad we got to do it.

Again, guys. Thanks for the tips, info etc. It was pulled off well and you guys had a part it in so thanks again.
