KHL players signing NHL Contracts

Question, when Komorav's year is finished in he KHL (next week or so) could the Leafs sign him to a contract to finish the year like the Caps just did with Kuznetsov? I know the Rangers did it last year with Zuccarello when he finished his season. I don't know if he would be eligible to play in the playoffs, but might be a nice jump the last dozen games and get him under contract for next year too.

Any insight?
