I'm not sure I want Pionk anywhere near PP1 - he defaults to shooting whenever he gets the chance - and you don't want that with the other skill we have out there.Good game esp 3rd. Habs are bad so that needs to be taken into account but overall a solid effort.
Schmidt is a good PP pointman, he is just not a trigger man from the right side. Promote Pionk to PP1, let Schmidt run PP2 from the point and let Morrissey be the trigger man on the right circle on that unit as he has a bigger shot.
Hopefully Connor got the monkey off of his back with that goal.
Loved the game tonight but the BF wasn't here and my nails are now a shitty mess. All his fault, of course.
Can't believe how much tripping Montreal got away with. What my dad calls the "original six ref prejudice" I suppose.
I'm so happy for Connor to finally get the simian off his back.
Said BF just came home; catch with up all your comments tomorrow.
We in first again?
Yes, yes you should. Come have a beer with the Baron Saturday afternoon when we whack some Blackhawk ass!I should go to games more often
Maybe it's because I'm not a Habs fans but Xhekaj is not the second coming of Larry Robinson, kid is young and he still might amount to something but going around punching people doesn't make you a good hockey player
Notice that every time Lowry starts in overtime he wins the faceoff and we begin with puck possession. Also what is the fascination with starting Lowry in OT?
I thought the same thing myself, but Bowness said in the post game press conference, that he uses Lowry only to get possession of the puck, as he thinks Lowry is the Jets best faceoff man. He says getting possession in overtime is key. Also what is the fascination with starting Lowry in OT? For all his faults, one good thing about Maurice was that he always played to win in OT. I don't like this coaching staff's scared attitude in OT. That will cost us against good teams that have players with speed to burn.
Aren’t the Yotes the team that beat Florida last night? The Yotes are getting thrashed by the Stars tonight so far. If we could beat the Hawks on Saturday it would set up an early top of the standings battle against the Stars next week

Did he even play in the third, 8 minutes says probably notThey got to cheer for something. Slaf looks like hes in daze out there so getting a 1st overall pick and having him look meh has to be scary

Yeah I don't think an extra 10% chance of winning a faceoff is worth it. Imagine if he is out against McKinnon or McDavid or someone like that and they lose the faceoff. He's a good defensive player but his type of D isn't made of 3 on 3. I think the Jets have enough shooters to go against anyone (esp with Ehlers that they should wanna end the OT as soon as possible)If I had to guess, it's because they think winning the opening face-off in OT is key, and I mean, yes it's a bonus; they just overstate both how big a boost it is, and the difference between Lowry vs an average face-off man. The absolute best (like, Bergeron-caliber) is still only a 3:2 favourite on a draw; most teams "best FO player" are like 55% (so, 6:5). As I always say with coaches literally old enough to get the half-price tilapia and steamed carrots off the senior's menu at Salisbury House, their math may be substandard but at least they have an idea.
