Kevyn Adams GM thread

Can't wait to hear how the human meat shield justifies the team being several million dollars under the cap again and tries to sell us on the third straight year of "just hope that everyone has a career year!" as his grand master plan

If they keep everyone around at about their RFA deals from APF has them at, do they even have much cap left though?

This is the worst of all worlds - being capped out with a team that was bad, not having extra future draft capital, and having continued questions at center, goal, and on defense.

There is not a single thing Kevyn Adams has gotten right. The man is a generational incompetent.

He is just grossly underqualified. He got his job with the organization because he was born nearby. He got promoted to GM because he was willing to be a Yes Man and fire a bunch of people. He has never done a head coach search - he walked down the hall to hire Granato, then hired his old boss in Ruff.

He has done exactly what any unqualified hack would do, maintaining a mediocre staff so that he could not easily be replaced internally. He is not generationally incompetent - the person who hired him is.

As I've said in the past: Kevyn is Caligula's Horse.

4.4 million next season on Jeff Skinner.

6.4 million the following season.

What a complete waste of a buyout that has and will bring no benefit to the team.

This is the Sabres/Adams adminstration's "Scandella moment".

It makes zero sense to buy Skinner out last Summer. The biggest cap savings were for '24-'25 and it went un-used. Now, because they didnt wait until this Summer, the next 2 years are punitive.

They could have waited. Sat him in the pressbox if they didnt want him on the ice. He would have probably agreed to a trade eventually. Him and his agent refused last Summer, calling the Sabres' bluff.

To be fair, he did a fairly extensive coaching interview search before hiring Granato.

.....then hired whoever was cheapest (Granato)

If I had to guess on Kevyn's "plan" for next summer based on his comments, they will probably move one of Clifton/Samuelsson at a discount and overpay someone to play with Power. Essentially do the Zucker signing but on defense. Like a Cody Ceci/Travic Hamonic type.

Just expect the expected.

They'll make 1 trade that leaves you feeling the same you do now. Samuelsson for another Samuelsson.

They'll draft Eklund at 9, we'll all say 'wait, dont we have enough of this archetype?' and then people will link 1 chart on how Eklund *could* solve all their problems.

They'll sign 1 defensemen ufa that is an old vet who couldn't find a deal elsewhere and is probably washed.

They'll be 5-9 million under the cap.

Time is a flat circle.

It saved Pegula cash and makes it look like he’s spending closer to the cap. That’s what matters.

Adams returning for another year should be the end of people believing this organization does things for any reason rooted in improvement or success.

Should have figured that out three years ago

Don’t worry. They won’t be keeping all those players. Terry didn’t save money keeping the same unqualified GM to not have him save money on another losing season.

This franchise is cooked. For good.
