Kevyn Adams GM thread

He's lying about saving the owner money.
I guess he doesn't care it makes him look incompetent by not using the cap space in trades or free agency but he probably doesn't care how it looks as long as he is the GM and collecting paychecks.

Even if he isn't lying(I am sure he is)It shows he is incompetent. Instead of paying Clifton 3.3 million we could have had a top 4 defender for 7 million. Just one example that shows he is lying or incompetent or both.

I wonder if Pegula expects a new GM to lie for him too.

Sycophants don't worry about how they look to everyone, they only care about being part of the in group. Adams has acted like a toady for so long, he's not going to worry that someone didn't like him saving his boss money.

The other thing is why not just be honest?

When Galisano owned the team they were honest and told us there was an internal cap and you could respect the honesty.

Just another reason why this franchise is a dumpster fire.

Because if he's honest, it makes Terry look bad again. They act like juveniles, those aren't mature adults and certainly don't exhibit leadership. Terry does very much seem like he's stung by criticism. Adams salves his boss's boo boos from being criticised.

Good Luck to Buffalo finding another GM willing to work under those conditions.

What a curse with Pegula buying the team. We all thought he was the saviour

Its got to be tough for Pegula making a decision on Adams. Losing his little minion.

By watching that Press Conference, I’m starting to think there is a chance Adam’s gets fired .

Always liked the guy and he seemed like a leader at first and a great speaker , but he has had 5 years and has failed miserably. It’s time for a change

Fairburn mentioned on his pod with Bakes tonight that the joint press conference with Ruff was unusually for the Sabres and allowed Adams to hide a bit since there was someone else there. Also, the "look in the mirror" thing he was repeating is a Ruff staple. The players were saying it, now Adams is saying it. That's Lindy's influence apparently.

Yeah the proudest KA ever was in these pressers is when we hit the cap floor with the Ben Bishop trade. It costs like 600k for a 3 million cap hit. There’s 2.4 million TP doesnt have to pay

He reminds me of a Commissioner we had a while back.

The Commish wasn’t remotely qualified for the job and was very much in over his head. But he had the connections to get the position. Since he really had no idea what he was doing. The only way he felt he could justify keeping his job was to send money back to the City’s general fund from whatever was budgeted for the BFD.

Let’s say our budget was 60mil for a fiscal year. He’d pinch pennies and cut things so he only spent 57mil of it and “returned” 3mil to the general fund to “look good”. Nevermind that the budget wasn’t enough for the departments needs to begin with and was given to the BFD to actually run the department. The end result of this was, by the end of his years long tenure as Commish, our fleet of vehicles and gear/equipment were in shambles. We still haven’t recovered.

Kevyn Adams drafting is also trash.

Toronto is drafting Knies while Buffalo is drafting Kisakov and Leinonen in the 2nd round.

Kisakov can't even break the AHL lineup.

What a trainwreck this clown has been.

They really needed to fire him after the losing streak with the palm trees and taxes comments. That would have allowed a new regime to assess the roster and actually have a real offseason.

If they fire him now (which they should), it’s going to be a scramble drill, and largely lost offseason.

Any other owner. Heck, any fan knows this, would have things decided and lined up long ago. Morning after the season, firings. Discussions would have likely already taken place with the successor and that would be completed early this week.

Instead, we just get reactive nonsense. Pegula thinks he is being cerebral, but it just highlights how out of his depth he is.

No idea how with all the silly daily conversations and the teams fate being sealed 5 months ago, why there are even questions or delay right now.

I would love to but its too hard. I have been a fan since the 1980s

I just feel trapped.
If KA is retained, I’m going to pen a thank you letter to Terry. Thanking him for finally freeing me of this nightmare so that I can pursue other interests in my life. Thanking him for showing such a horrendous and consistent lack of judgement that, while painful, did in fact cure me of hockey obsession. The amount of time and money that I’ll save will feel like getting a whole new life.

I really hope I don’t have to write that letter.

Sounds like a good plan. I may do the same with a letter that would be dripping with sarcasm and a seriousness that they have shown themselves with their willingness to compete with other teams

Most hockey people have a clue and adapt quickly. This idea that a GM needs time to assess is bullshit, a holdover from when press carried water for Botterill's inaction. That was eight years ago - plenty of teams make GM moves and then immediately start in on roster shifts that have immediate impact. Nowhere else does this narrative of having to wait sit but in Sabre fans.

A GM brought in around the 4 nations break could have already influenced scouting for the draft, identified roster decisions they want to make that might be difficult while there were still games to tweak and assess (e.g. whether to buy out Samuelsson, whether to trade/extend Byram, etc), and possibly already planted some seeds at the trade deadline with other GMs for roster building trades this summer.

Maybe "largely a lost offseason" is an exaggeration, but it would be way better to have the last 1/3 of a season with a new group vs a lame duck. I'm pretty sure Adams won't get fired anyway though, so it's moot.

The fact they called guys up from Rochester late in the season and gave them few minutes and opportunities to see what they had in glorified exhibition games says everything you need to know about this sad and stupid organization.

Based on what I saw yesterday they brought up the wrong guys. We over rate our Amerk prospects. Only a snapshot but telling....

Dont' see them doing/announcing anything until after the NFL draft this week/end.
I think, *IF* anything is going to happen it will on Weds or maybe Thursday.

That way the news of it happening will get swamped by the NFL draft and Pegula / Sabres restarting AGAIN won't have much of an impact in the media at all.

But.. I don't expect it will happen. Just if it were and from what we know of him, he'll want that story buried ASAP.
