Kevyn Adams GM thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Adams,:"I didn't want to overreact"

You are on a god damn 13 game losing streak and you dont want to overreact by calling up players or a trade???

Get this clown out of here.
What's infuriating is fans and media were calling for some kind of action or intervention immediately after the Colorado collapse, when the losing streak was at 5 games and the season somewhat still salvageable. It was obvious to all of us -- except to the one guy who could actually do something -- that the roster was flawed and in need of immediate work.

Instead we got a smug GM delivering platitudes at a press conference he clearly felt was pointless and unnecessary, since the roster he built was in eyes more than adequate. By the time the streak hit 13 games, the season was already toast.

A general rule of survival in sports or life: : it's much better to panic early than panic late.

Agreed all around, though the Colorado game was game 4 of the streak. They had lost to Minny 1-0, and lost in OT 4-3 to Vancouver before the stinker 3-0 on the Island and then the collapse against the Avs. It was apparent something needed to be done. Instead... palm trees.

Adams should have been fired then. Its going to be hard to digest next season if Adams is still here.

I am not as confident as you that he will be gone.

That doesn't really follow though.

Why would scouting related meetings be on the road? I'm assuming most of the amateur scouts are on the road scouting with NCAA/OHL playoffs forthcoming. Any big meeting would. be based out of the home office and likely could be attended via zoom.

There's SOMETHING there. It IS weird he want to the game. Though, do wonder if it might be as simple as Terry wanting to attend a game without being worried about being boo'd.

I do think that the offer of no increase on early renewals is partially ownership wanting to take temperature of season ticket holders, though.

Kevyn's seat is getting warm. We'll see if it actually becomes hot though.
Maybe. Maybe not.

I still think this is mostly fans filling in a vacuum of information with their hopes and dreams more than anything.

Jarmo added two sabres journalists to his follow list. He only follows Columbus journalists and Sabres journalists. I wouldnt say thats nothing.

People tried to guess what Stefon Diggs unhiding all his Bills photos meant and if he was re-signing in Buffalo.

Then he signed with NE.

Social Media follows and unfollows can mean a wide variety of things.

This is my favorite Twitter account that Jarmo is following.

I wonder if he is thinking that Adams might get let go soon and he's preparing to apply for the job and is doing research.

Jarmo probably thinks Adams is getting canned.. There is a photo of Adams and Pegula sitting apart. Of course there could be a reason for this like Pegula had a private conversation or something like that.

The tweet is more about who Jarmo follows and not unfollows.

But definitely interesting lately as the countdown to the end of the season begins.

And Jarmo could be wrong and wasting his time prepping to interview for a job that either may not come open soon or that he wouldn't be a serious candidate for because he doesn't fit what Pegula looks for in a GM.

He probably doesn't feel like he is wasting his time no more than we are posting on a message board about it.

I applaud the guy for showing initiative, I guess you feel differently.

I don't think following Twitter accounts is something worthy of applause...
Who is applauding? I said it was interesting.

Weird how you think saying interesting = applauding.

I find it more weird you post 5 times over something that you think so lowly about.

I am not going to take your point of view so I don't know who you are trying to convince.

Other posters might find it interesting so I posted the tweet.

But there was a clear reason for Diggs doing that whether people speculated or not - he did it on the 5 year anniversary of his trade to Buffalo.

There is no clear reason Jarmo would do it that sits atop the fan speculation like that

The GM of any professional sports team is the lead recruiter for the organization.

I am still in shock that the lead recruiter got up in front of a camera and microphones and said that nobody wants to come here because of palm trees and taxes.

How that was not an immediately friable offense is still an enigma to me. Keeping him as GM, even to finish the season, is just gaslighting this town and this fanbase.

Because any GM change would see the next person demand a full hockey department full of qualified scouts and executives. Not having one was the catalyst for the last change. And it’s going great.

They wouldn’t even fire Matt Ellis. They just changed his seat. Anytime you think there’s any kind of a fix coming…they wouldn’t even fire Matt Ellis.

Well, now Adams has his excuses ready. '13 game losing streak derailed the season. Missing their #1 D for a majority of that played a role. They'll learn from it and be better next year. Just take a look at the final 20 games of the season. The team rallied after the Cozens trade. There are some young players showing promise who will provide more depth. JBD has stabilized Power. Etc..'

We are so screwed. You just know he's going to rely on Kulich being a top-6C next year, and we'll have to pray another young C can withstand the grind of a full NHL season playing a big-time role on this roster. Kulich seems way less fragile mentally than Cozens at least. The D will likely still be a mess.

I'm glad those of you who have watched a ton this year are getting some wins at least, though some of those wins seems to be Reimer standing on his head more-so than the team actually playing a lot better. This little surge at the end doesn't fill me with any confidence about next year as long as Adams is still at the helm.

The talk of having 2/3 of the top line being guys that are under 22yo for the vast majority of the season next year is so frustrating.

People still haven't learned the lessons from the past 4 years where they relied too much on young, inexperienced guys.

And then they will act shocked when there is a lengthy bad stretch that kills the season before New Year's.

Don't get me wrong - KA should be fired and deserves it he repeatedly failed to address major gaps - Goaltender two years ago, top 4 D for several years, top 6 forward last year. But, I do thing our young players will get better with growth, Dahlin's injury did hurt us, TNT's injury last year did hurt us. And as horrible of a place I feel we are in, a big part of me also feels that our fortunes could turn suddenly just through development and better injury luck.

I am so ambivalent. One minute I think most of the major pieces are in place and at some point, the development will click and we will be great. The next, I think this team is mentally and physically soft and we need to identify who are the major examplars of this and move them ASAP.

Did he? They're clocking in at 25% xG and +0.

Ou have to remember that half the board thinks Power spends his shifts shitting his pants at center ice until he skates back to the bench.

They wouldn’t know what he’s doing good or bad. They see his number after a goal and know it was him. Doesn’t matter what happened. It had to be him.
