They are making the same mistake now. Dahlin, while not a malcontent, is too young to be the captain. It should Tuch, in all honesty.

But I guess Tuch is not int the teams long term plans, so what do I know.
I disagree, Dahlin is almost 25 and he responsible guy with a completely different personality than Eichel. Overall, Dahlin is a veteran of this team and has been in the NHL for almost 7 years. Players say he is a leader, he likes it in Buffalo, he organizes and brings the guys together in summer training camp, he plays with heart and grit, the players respect him. I would be hard pressed to find a better captain here than Dahlin right now in this team. Also, the letter "C" does not affect his game at all, he is one of the best defensemen in the league right now in points, metrics and eye test.

Assholes ON THE ICE, yes. Just because someone is an asshole on the ice.....doesn't mean they get to be one off the ice.

I think you and I have different ideas about assholes.

Especially if you think your captain should be a jerk who disrespects normal people and sets such an example for the whole team, then I definitely disagree.

It takes all kinds.

I agree that you don't want your captain to be a selfish player. I think everyone agrees he shouldn't have been captain. But...we also created a leadership vacuum by not having any quality veterans to fill that void we had.

We've gotten to this point by just a vast array of unforced errors. We've stepped on a ton of landmines that were easily avoidable by ownership just admitting they needed to get some more experienced people in here to help them.

Well, I don't argue that they built the team wrong, hiring bad GMs and coaches, but those vets who were in the locker room, it seems that Eichel did not respect them at all, but rather the opposite. Gionta talked about this.

The real issue with the tank was they stripped the team down too far. Gionta didn't really command respect. he was a good locker room guy, but he wasn't a guy that people would shut up and listen to. And that is also on the kids in the locker room for being little shits. But there was a severe lack of any real gravitas among the vets who were there after Murray made the roster as bad as possible.

Stanley Cup ring, captain of an original six franchise, NCAA champion playing in Boston? How is that not someone to listen to? FFS. If they didn't listen to him, they wouldn't listen to just about anyone else.

Kevin Adams on wgr monthly appearance today (audio to follow when available)
- Got out skated out competed in Carolina
- What we have done in the standings has not changed philosophically with the way we are looking at the deadline
- We are wide open, looking and talking about everything, what he wants to do is make the team better now. Not interested in futures, a hockey trade.
- Regarding Byram, really has liked his season, excellent for us, valued him before the trade and has exceeded expectations, excellent with Dahlin. Will talk to the agent AFTER the season and would like to talk to his agent, and move forward with him.
- Talked about Levi's playing time in Rochester. alot of belief, thinks he will be a excellent NHL goalie
- Very busy time of the year
- re: Zucker & Greenway become very important players in the locker room. Would like to have both of them here, will keep working at keeping them.

He sounded quite calm and composed imo.
