He has 27 points and is a 3C, sometimes these guys are invisible in terms of points, but they continue to be useful on the ice in defense and on the PK for example. I am amazed that people don't really like McLeod, he produced at a tremendous rate when he had a strong third line with Zucker and Greenway on his wings. Then when Greenway got injured and Zucker went to the top 6, of course it became more difficult for him, he showed up as a 4C, then played with not the most productive players on his line and without chemistry. By the way, he has 9 points in the last 10 games.
How many points did he have during the 13 game losing streak? Its great for guys to show up after we are out of the playoffs so we can get the 8th pick again.

How many points did the others have? What did Byram, Tuch, Power and the rest of the players do during this 13-loss stretch? How many points did Peterka have while Thompson was gone? It seems like zero. You're only looking at points, but that's wrong, he's a 3C, he had a surge at the beginning of the season, then a decline, like the rest of the team, but he's still going at a good pace in terms of points and is very useful even without it.

You can cherry pick a 6 game stretch from a lot of players. I wonder if we did the with McLeod. He was invisible for half the season.
Read my response to TageGod above. It’s more about the long stretches if subpar production that don’t usually project into the top 6 at the NHL level and the general narrative that Buffalo got rolled. It was a good hockey trade. I’m not a believer in Savoie as a big time NHL producer, although I do think he’ll be a good 3rd liner with his pace and tenacity. I just don’t think he’s creative enough to play a big part on a real scoring line at the top level. My issue with Kyvyn has never been the trades he makes. It’s the ones he doesn’t that make him ineffective.

He was a 3C in Edmonton, how the hell does a 4C score 43 points at a pace and not get PP time? Show me a 4C like that in the NHL. Cirelli 2C in Tampa. Nick Paul with 27 points their 3C and McLeod with 27 points our 3C.
He was scratched in the playoffs. He was replaced by Henrique at 2m. Dude is shooting over 22% this year. He should probably have like 6-8 this year. His defense is great to have. His goal scoring won't continue long term.

Well it's the playoffs, I'm worried about the regular season. He's a 3C and he's doing a good job, he's got some interesting skills outside of his defensive skills, his skating and speed, that helps create some chances. Even if his shooting drops, he'll still get his points and be a good 3C. He was good at the start of the season, then he was quiet in terms of points, now he has 9 points in his last 10 games.

Don't need him to be a big goal scorer. I like all the other things he brings to the team.

Can’t believe I have to dig this back up in February while the player is having a good season…

McLeod was, again, scratched exactly one time in the playoffs. A game they lost. He scored the next game and helped them shut down the Stars the rest of the way. That was the *checks notes* conference finals. He then played all seven games of the *checks notes* Stanley Cup finals, scoring three goals.

Yes but good players don’t get scratched ever :sarcasm:

It’s like this massive black mark that a 24 year old took a seat for one day in the f***ing conference finals before being one of their best players the rest of the way through a seven game cup series.

Insanity.

Which doesn't really matter, even though Oilers fans were upset with him in the playoffs, what matters is how he plays for us, and I think he's doing a good job and is a quality 3C. He was a better center than our $7M big kid.

This is evident with what I heard regarding defenseman Mattias Samuelsson going back to the summer, who was said to be close to an untouchable, according to two teams I spoke with who reached out on the availability of the player.

(the rest of the article talks about Adams wanting a centerman back for Cozens and is 'gun shy' about moving him.)

But the fact that any 'evaluator of talent' would consider Samuelsson untouchable, especially with Byram, Power, and Dahlin on the team....just absolutely has to go.

I would bet the 'evaluator' has changed their mind on Sammy after this season he has had, just like many of us have.

The article also states that most interested teams don't have what Adams is looking for for Cozens (a center in return). One teams does. The Wild (Rossi).

McLeod was a good trade. A rare time when KA seemed (only seemed) to realize that the organization has to decide on some of their prospects and cash them in for a legit NHLer. In the middle of last season I hoped for a Krebs/McLeod trade. The problem is that KA has been clueless about his top-six Cs, thinking TT and Cozens were the guys to roll with, trading good top-six C depth away instead of adding it. That's why adding McLeod was necessary, when it should have been just a good add for a 4C/3C. Instead McLeod has had to fill in top-six duty when obviously the team needs more, and Krebs is filling in above his ability also. Just pathetic roster assessment.
