That would require Terry realizing that he needs someone to give him advice.Maybe just advisor?

Someone has to tell him about it, that's the only hope. That would require Terry realizing that he needs someone to give him advice.
I’ll do it.That would require Terry realizing that he needs someone to give him advice.
I feel like the only person that could convince him isn't real communicative right now (his wife).Someone has to tell him about it, that's the only hope.
Maybe kids or this new director who was hired in the offseason, Gueli? Or whatever his name is, he seems to be some kind of famous guy.I feel like the only person that could convince him isn't real communicative right now (his wife).
Terry is a stubborn ass but even he recognizes that “his” approach — hiring a pliant and inexperienced acolyte from down the hall — has exploded in his face. 5 years in and hovering in the bottom 3 league wide on the eve of Christmas leaves very little room for alternate interpretations. That would require Terry realizing that he needs someone to give him advice.
You couldn't possibly be any more wrong. There is zero evidence Pegula will ever change his ways.Terry is a stubborn ass but even he recognizes that “his” approach — hiring a pliant and inexperienced acolyte from down the hall — has exploded in his face. 5 years in and hovering in the bottom 3 league wide on the eve of Christmas leaves very little room for alternate interpretations.
My best guess is Pegula is utterly defeated and currently seeking professional advice on how to proceed, either through hiring a respected hockey GM or an outright sale of the team.
You clearly don't understand why Burke agreeing to be our GM would be such a game changer: it's not that he's a genius, it's that it would show the entire league that Pegula has FINALLY learned that his way isn't working and is putting someone respected within the sport in charge (who never would've agreed to take the job unless Pegula agreed to be hands off). You can hire Fancystats Wonderboy to be the next GM and it won't mean shit as long as Pegula keeps Pegula'ing.Thank God

I agree but am pointing out why he would still be a massive improvement over what we have now.Lots of other respected hockey minds out there besides bumbling Brian ..
No thanks to Brian or fancy stats wonder boy.
Pegula did it his way and look where the team is. Nobody can convince him he’s wrong, but reality can.You couldn't possibly be any more wrong. There is zero evidence Pegula will ever change his ways.
I…I don’t think that’s true.Pegula did it his way and look where the team is. Nobody can convince him he’s wrong, but reality can.
I’m positive it’s not true.I…I don’t think that’s true.
The first couple of GM hires he could blame on someone else —Lafontaine, NHL. This hire? Look in the mirror, bud.I’m positive it’s not true.
There would have been changes to this philosophy long before there hasn’t been one now.
We can’t approach anything with the belief that Terry isn’t perfectly happy with the job Adams has done. The first couple of GM hires he could blame on someone else —Lafontaine, NHL. This hire? Look in the mirror, bud.
Burke would at least open up the lines of communications to other teams but Burke and Pegula probably wouldn't make it a week together. The only reality for Terry is that his Sabre costs stay in the basement while the revenue sharing money keeps coming in to supplement the Bills printing big bucks 24/7Pegula did it his way and look where the team is. Nobody can convince him he’s wrong, but reality can.
Remember this was a team that was in the playoff picture a little more than three weeks ago. The not so bright Pegula was probably looking at his GM -- who really is a cost cutter and a propaganda machine -- as finally executing on his multi-year process of building a playoff bound roster. I'm sure at that point Pegula was satisfied with his hire and the progress in the standings. We can’t approach anything with the belief that Terry isn’t perfectly happy with the job Adams has done.
He doesn’t make a change…so everything is completely acceptable to him.
And it will be every single moment of every single day that he doesn’t.
The question is…what aspect of Adams performance keeps him in his position. Because none of the answers are good.
1. He saves Terry money by running an understaffed organization of inexperienced people while adhering to an internal cap
2. He is a propaganda machine whose job is to tell people the owner is totally invested and totally cares while taking all the bullets for ownership
3. Firing him would mean paying him and a new GM
4. All of the above
This is the totality of Kevyn Adams’ accomplishments as GM of the Buffalo Sabres.
And it’s enough for him to continue to be the GM of the Buffalo Sabres.
Any other argument is asinine.
