But Eric Robinson plays on the second line of the Canes and he already has 9 points (4+5). :naughty:
He is up to 12 points in 17 games. I liked Robinson. He had good speed but hands could use some work. Looks like he might be figuring things out.

This team needs depth at forward and Adams trades for him and lets him go.

Well, I think he fits well in the RBA system. Carolina didn't make any big acquisitions, they just added the players they needed, who work, and now they are in first place in the conference. We needed a center, and I suggested a trade for Kotkaniemi in the offseason, and now he is thriving on the second line with Robinson and Necas. Unfortunately, Adams almost never tries to play Moneyball by finding good players for free or cheap. I wonder who exactly suggested a trade for McLeod, I think Ventura and his department saw good analytics and put their hand to it.

I'm betting they were key in targeting Malenstyn as well.

Moneyball is over KA's head I'm afraid. Ventura being a bigger part of the front office is growing on me. Will it on Pegula enough to go over his relations ???

If they remove Adams they should bring someone in who has experience in constructing a playoff roster.
Not another in house promotion.
There is more involved in being a successful GM then just being good at analytics.
Maybe Ventura is capable, maybe not.
Enough experiments with people who have never been at the position before.

You don't get it, this is an option if Terry doesn't want to hire a GM from outside, but only internal promotion. Then I'm for Ventura. He has NHL experience, plus analytics.

Of course, it's better to conduct a thorough search for a GM from outside, but who will do it, Terry? Adams? I don't believe in them.

Do you want a GM like this?

Dentist style – this is how the general manager of one of the NHL teams recently described the working methods of his colleague:

– He will drill until you give in.

I’d rather have Karmanos at the helm than anyone. Guy had 3 cups as an AGM.
I would still find a GM on the outside, but if Terry only wants an internal promotion that's an option. I just think we don't want to lose Ventura, maybe promote him to AGM.

Drilling reminds me too much of Pegula

Any internal promotion should be rejected outright by the fans and media. Enough is enough with these people. Havent even performed a coaching search since Ralph Kruger
I agree, but we're just discussing here that if Terry is possibly not willing to hire outsiders anymore and is pushing for internal options only.

Didn't Terry feel scorned that outsider's told him to pick coaches/GM's? Thought I read that somewhere

Well, he didn't do any better. He asked the league for advice. Now he will have to either hire an experienced and well-known GM himself who knows everything, or hire an experienced POHO or advisor who will conduct a GM search.

Eichel for Tuch, Krebs, and Johnson ain’t no Mogilny for Peca, McKee, Warrener (via Wilson).

Agreed. Not waiting for the AHL cavalry to ride in and save us. Those are encouraging prospects to help round out the roster, nothing more. The real work has already begun, and this roster is it, for better or worse.

For all his flaws, I still think Adams had his best offseason. But to quote Dee Snyder, “if that’s your best, your best won’t do.” He simply lacks the chops to pull off the money trade or trades. Some Murray overpayment is probably necessary to make the final couple of vet moves needed to bring consistency and game preparedness to the lineup. But scared money don’t make money, and Adams is clearly a GM who’s more afraid to fail than do what’s necessary to succeed.

Greenway and Ostlund. Johnson was selected with a pick from the RoR trade.

What good would that do? It's not like the fans/media control what Terry does.

Pegula has caved under media and fan pressure/embarrassment in the past. Ticket sales would certainly speak volumes.

I don't want to see 4 years of "you just want to be negative all the time" and "Karmanos just has to clean up Adams' mess" and "we need at least a few years to evaluate: and also "let Karmanos pick his own coach this time". If people unanimously rejected it out of the gate, there would be a lot of pressure on ownership, instead of the 3-4 year stall tactic like Pegula (and Adams) wants.

So when Adams gets to the trade deadline without a move he will then claim now is not the time to make those kind of trades to improve the team. We must now wait until the offseason.
