It was the “man that’s legit” at the end that got me rolling.

That’s f***ing hilarious
I noticed the video first and didn't even end up reading the comments on the Weekes tweet at all after seeing that. :)

I bet when that driver got home he told his wife that he saw the coolest thing today and saw a man walking his bird on a lease.

You can retain on 3 contracts max. With Drouin, Dadonov, Monahan & Byron in their final years, the Habs will only be able to retain on 3 of them. If you add Allen to that list, it would leave you with 5 players, so two of them would have to be traded without retention. And unfortunately, the goalie market doesn't always net you the best return.
I doubt Byron has value even at 1.7 million which is why I don’t mind keeping him.

If the Habs have used all their retention opportunities, all they have to do is take an asset back to make a trade work.

That's cool, dont have a bad thing to say about Jakey
Good for the locker room too, can't all be 21 yr old kids lol
Like Adam was saying, He's good but he's not good enough to save a bad/young defense
Jake is a perfect stopgap while we're on the accelerated rebuild, it's up to HuGo to make sure we find a #1 goalie in the meantime
Probably a 2 year extension 3M/y

Allen/Primeau tandem next year?
Hey, Monty got a 2 year deal you know :( lol

Yes but Allen is a top 32 G in the league and it is easy to fit such a small cap hit on a contender (a few of them don’t have reliable G)
Byron and Monahan aren’t going anywhere unless they have massif bounce back season… we got a first for Monahan chances are slim that he will be having any impact or value… Byron was the force in our cup run but he is tap out now…
Allen, Drouin and Dadonov should be the 3 player we retain on.

Allen was great for us and singlehandedly got us points in the standings. If it weren't for injuries (such as the time Petry tried to kill him by pushing Larkin into him) we would have had a couple more wins. The defense is still atrocious so I don't see us being outside the bottom 5 anyways, but I feel like we could have got a nice asset with him retained at 50% and we got another stop-gap instead.

I don't know where you saw him get us points when his record was 9-20-4 last season. He helped the Habs get 22 pts out of a possible 66. He still had an above .900 SV%, which tells me he did well enough for a goalie who barely won games for you. Maybe one or two of those games were won because Allen played lights out, but he didn't really get the Habs many points.

We will see what things will look like at TDL.

Not sure how I feel about this.
On one hand I wanted to trade Allen to get an asset and help the tank.
Ion the other hand we need a #2 vet (we just need a better future #1) and he’s solid when healthy.

I’m just concerned we are gonna play our way out of the extreme bottom feeders.

If Allen is extended more than three years, it means that Price's career is likely over.

The guy had zero goal support. I'm expecting us to be a better offensive but worse defensive team.

Wouldn’t the tweet be about Primeau? He’s still RFA and Hughes said in his press conference he thinks he would be extended during the day or tomorrow

Since Weekes is making it seem like a big deal, I decided to start its own thread. Mods can choose to delete it if they want to.

At 4:30 this afternoon, Weekes tweeted this:

Then he tweeted a picture of the city of Montreal:

Then tweeted a picture of an empty net at the Bell Center:

Then tweeted this:

Sounds like a Bergevin move

Seems with getting all these forwards and all these defense prospects there will be internal competition for roster spots. This helps ensure that continues for goalie position in coming years.
