Hayes at 6
For
Roslovic

*** or retain more and pickup Bemstrom/Foudy too

CBJ get a C stopgap while their young players develop, as well as another veteran in the lineup. Roslovic has a chance to play top 6 and find success under Torts again.
This appeals, yeah. Hayes at 5.5 for Roslovic and Foudy would suit both teams' needs well, and would be in the rough vicinity of cap-neutral.

I feel like you need a team that is either fooling itself into thinking it's got a better shot at a cup than it does, or knows it's grasping at straws, but has resigned itself to that grasping attempt at relevance, and is prepared to suffer for however long it needs to afterwards.

The Flyers, meanwhile, do a fair bit of trading in nostalgia, even when they're not really getting anything out of it, and are happy to play to the Authentic Fan who last gave a damn about the team in and around 2010.

I hate that I'm proposing this, but:

To Pittsburgh:
Kevin Hayes (50% retained)

To Philadelphia:
Jeff Carter
some measure of picks/prospects

(Working here under the assumption that the REAL Philly nostalgia play, Hayes for Carter and Kasperi Kapanen, is less likely to happen even than this.)
If you take Kapanen and Carter and give us Hayes at 50% in the same trade, I would add pretty much any prospect of your choice or a 1st and a 2nd easily. Only problem is the NMC our bonehead GM gave Big Jeff.

Mike Hoffman + Joel Armia for Hayes and a sweetener
Ugly even before knowing what the sweetener is. Will be uglier.
Both guys earn 7.9, 34 pts in 80 games together, KH 7.1, 48pts, alone.
Next year Armia gets 1.8 raise while hayes salary comes down 1 mil next 2. Bergevin was Fletcher-level…

Having a good season but this will be only the 2nd time hes hit 50 points. At a 7.1mil cap hit for another couple years.

Don't see teams paying much if anything without retention.

Come on....teams were lined up....lined up I say, for this epic free agent when he became available. That's why Fletcher had to outbid....er, um......Chuck Fletcher, to acquire his services.

I mean who doesn't want a lazyass slow as F plug who's grossly overpaid and overtermed?

Hayes and JG reunited at last. Works for me.

Sounds like it would make a lot of people happy. Only problem is how would Chunks function without his AGM?
It's kind of funny still talking about Hayes like that when the Flyers didn't sign his best buddy Gaudreau.

Mostly a meme at this point, but they did make a suspiciously large number of moves to bring in players he had played with before, aside from that specific one.
