He was really hitting his stride here this year. Shame to see him go at his peak.

Hopefully it helps the rebuild greatly, but the pessimist in me has trouble imagining that first turning into a player as good as Hayes has become.

Oh well. Good luck to him.

The last couple years his game got better and better. IMO he was our best penalty killing forward but also good in just about every kind of situation. His offensive game picked up too. He's got a legit shot at hitting 60 points this year.

If we weren't going to sign him we had to move on though and I think we got a pretty good return for him.

I appreciate Kevin Hayes. OT Goal vs Pittsburgh in round 1 of 2015 then the game tying goal vs Washington in game 7 the next round.

Still remember when he was a rookie in preseason thinking this kid looks so awkward out there.

Kevin really committed himself to being a pro and put in the offseason work after his poor sophomore season and really committed to being a solid two way player.

Most of all, he chose the Rangers. He could choose any team in the league at the same price and chose to come here. He loved NY.

Thank you, Kevin, for your contributions during your time in NY. Despite early inconsistencies and a few goofs, you’ve become quite the player, and I hope you continue to develop and reach new heights in Winnipeg.

Wishing you all the best bud!

He turned into a pretty good player. I think he's going to want a boatload of cash and therefore, go get it big fella. I would bring him back for 5 yrs x 5.5. He's gonna want more than that. So long brother. Good luck to ya.

I`ve been happy with his role in New York and his career here - and he did very well remember not all need to a 1 center to be mentioned and he often played against other teams 1st line. A 2 center is a huge accomplishment in NHL in my view, so good luck with a new Franchise.

Solid player that accepted the criticism handed down after year one and busted his rump to become a better player.

Much respect for a guy like that.

Whish him all the best, but I hope the Jets lose to the lightning in Game 7 of the cup after beating the Stars to get there.

Hayes was one of my favorite Rangers. I liked his easygoing attitude and humor. Also his playing style was something I am fan of. Patience and always looking to make that great pass. Best of luck in Winnipeg Hayzer!

It might be a while before we see someone nearly as good in that 2C spot. Hopefully Chytil takes a big step next year but I'm not convinced he's going to be at C and not LW next year. I don't see Howden or Strome doing it.

One of the biggest goals in Rangers history doesn't happen if he doesn't tie game 7.

Not disagreeing it's one of the biggest goals in Rangers history.

But how sad is it that a conference semi-final goal in a year we didn't make the Cup Finals is one of the biggest goals in our franchise's history?

Got his jersey his rookie year....one of my favorites easily over the last 5 years. Thought his skill was very underrated as 1st-2nd year player. Glad to see him about to hit the 50, possibly 60 point total this year.

Despite the many times I yelled at the TV when he refused to shoot, it was fun to watch him control the puck and play keep away from the other team.

Yeah, you could look at that way but at the same time there's only been 40 game 7 OT winners in NHL history. 100+ years, 30 teams. That's not a lot.

Thanks for picking to play for the blueshirts! Was awesome to see him develop and play the game the right way at both ends of the ice.
